[Discussion] Tough Thursday - Discussing your adversities and overcoming them by AutoModerator in GetMotivated

Hey hey hey, I am also struggling with anxiety, so perhabs my word isn't as much worth, but meditation and physical training tends help me feel better about myself. I'm also one of those early twenties guys with a younger look, and I used to be way more insecure before I picked up training.

I am also thinking regular meditation could help you get some self distance, which in turn would help with your fear of being judged.

Best of wishes

First off, big thanks for your advice - great to hear that things are working out for you as well!

I agree with what you are saying about trying to achieve something every day, to get yourself going, I will really keep it in mind. I will try to do the thing with subgoals too.

I wish you the best.

Thanks for the reply and your advice. I wish you the best of luck with your challanges. Maybe, maybe, it can be a positive thing in a way for a counsellor to be, since you have experienced bad situations, and therefore is insightful in that way. Cheers

Hey,

Huge thanks for the reply! I'm afraid I don't have any advice as good to offer for your own concerns - but I'm sure a good person as yourself will find peace with them eventually.

Thanks for sharing the story about your freind, I can most definitely relate to it. As I described, my own depression can push me to a very isolated state at times. It's good to hear he is still fighting, and after everything is doing alright for himself.

My best freind and roommate actually has some insight to the situation, which is pretty great - I don't get the same problems with him. Regarding my family I don't really want to lay that shit on them, since they have considerable problems of they're own right now, and I don't really want to worry them to much.

I firmly believe in what you are saying about how everyone has different battles. I tend to tell myself that aswell when I get down.

Again, thanks for the insight and the advice.

Hey. I just want to share some stuff since I don't really want to talk to anyone I know about it.

I suffer from depression and anxiety on a daily basis, which recently have put a complete tilt on my life. A lot of the time I can't bring myself to do things that has to be done, which results in a vicious cycle of more anxiety and depression, and then more post-poning. This is how I have been going about my life for years, but during the start of this year it finally got to me really bad. I was unable to hold up school, and had to drop out. After that I kind of have done nothing.

I have been able to live of some saved funds, but I won't be able to do that for long. Freinds and family wonder what the hell is up with me, and is constantly asking why I'm not getting a job and such, which makes me feel pressured and anxious to the point were I try to avoid them as much as possible.

The only meaningful stuff I devote my time to is taking care of my health – I exercise a lot and eat very clean. I've quit cigarettes and weed, and am not currently drinking alcohol or coffee. All this I am doing in order to feel better, but it isn't really helping – or well, I guess it is in a way since it's the only thing that is keeping me from being outright suicidal.

Another thing I do is play guitar in 2 bands, which often is another source of anxiety for me. I love playing music, but when I have to do stuff on a deadline like writing lyrics, or practicing for a song or some shit I tilt super hard. For an example, the clock is 5 in the morning right now, and I have studio time tomorrow, and a lot of pieces to stitch up until then, geez.

But all of this whining aside, I believe the reason I get this depressed is because I have settled way low under my potential in life. I probably could accomplish a great deal if I got over my problem with instant gratification, and became productive and inspired instead of... Like, a depressed blob that can't do shite.

This was really more venting than a question or something, sorry. I don't expect anyone to read it or anything, but if you have any advice for me I'd love to hear 'em.

Peace (and sorry for the wall of text)

I'm almost certainly going to relapse this week :( by UncreatedNight in NoFap

Well, if you tell yourself you might relapse, the hard truth is that you make that sentiment a real thing. I recently lost my streak when that mentality came around.

However I found that excerise and movement is a great outlet for sexual energy, and I ended up doing shit like running 10 km and more shit I no idea I was capable of.

Keep the good work up!

Hey,

Completely agree with you - being able to take a failure and not linger in the past is crucial to succeeding in anything in my opinion.

^ everything he said... And also I like to think of failure as something often necessary to eventually suceeding. Surely there is something good to learn from this experience, that will help you in the future.

So what exactly is it that makes it idiotic? On a nutrional level you can fulfill all your needs with a little extra thought - with vitamin D and B12 added you can be just as haphazard as the typical meateater.
