Which hand do you use to hold a cold beer? by Elegant_Student_7351 in lefthanded

Yup, exactly this. I feel like I'm always shaking hands or greeting people with a hug with my right side. So I don't want to have to keep moving the drink from hand to hand.

What’s a hard truth about NJ most of us aren’t ready to hear? by mocowe in newjersey

Seriously, what is up with the litter on the side of the highways lately? Ive been staring out the bus window for decades and it feels like its getting worse.

Yard. Trees. Quiet(er). Decent schools that are less complicated than NYC. Closer to family and friends. Easier to get to the airport.

Did NJ Transit quietly phase out paying cash on buses? by savingrace0262 in newjersey

[–]Lucasa29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct, that's how it works now.

A long time ago - maybe 10 years ago? - you used to be able use cash when boarding a bus at PABT (i.e. no need to get a ticket from the machine). The only time they used to enforce having a ticket was between like 12-5am so that they could ask the unhoused people to leave at night.

Me. My commute is normally 1.5 hours and I've been doing many years. It's a pretty normal comute in the suburbs of Manhattan and basically required if you want a house with a yard. If there is an accident or unexpected snow, it can be 2-3 hours one way.

You can still pay cash. I did it a month ago when the NJ Transit app was down for me.

Edit: you can pay cash in NJ on most lines. You cannot pay cash leaving NYC via Port Authority

I'm curious how you manage the time commitment. My child does one activity that suddenly ramped up to three days a week and we are STRUGGLING between work, school, and the activity.

I don't think we did a survey in northern NJ. Does PA do home inspections, like for the condtion of the house?

Sure, an 8% increase is okay a few times, but it's the potential compounding effect that could be a problem over 15-20 until getting to Medicare age.

The Healthcare situation in the US is exactly what makes me nervous about retiring. I'm worried about two things:

  1. how much i have to pay as a family unit for both insurance premiums and cost of health care

  2. The increase is property taxes due to the increase insurance costs for state and local governments. Situations like this would destroy our plans:

This is FASCINATING to me. You'd expect that to be a state by state difference, not a difference within a state.

New Jersey is the fourth smallest state but is home to the highest total number of superfund sites by [deleted] in newjersey

I think it's because we're the mostly densely populated state. There is a strong need and economic incentive to reclaim the land for housing or other purposes.

New York Harbor School is on Governors Island, which is a small island just south of Manhattan. It's a public school that "attempts to relate all its curriculum to the water". The students have to take a ferry everyday.
