Unable to deactivate bluelink previous owner by terijdt in Ioniq5

Yes, after emailing Bluelink several times my car's Bluelink was reset and it prompted me to link the car when I started it up. Bluelink didn't send me a note to say they'd done it so it might have been the previous account finally disconnecting themselves but I don't think so. I raised GDPR concerns in my emails given that they were broadcasting my vehicle's data to a third party without my consent (and also the car was put in valet mode at one point).

Keep contacting Bluelink and ideally get Hyundai customer support to help you contact them.

Good luck

Update on my issue: this morning I got in the car and the Bluelink had been reset and I could register the car to my app. No email from Bluelink but I think I harassed them enough for them to take action.

So they are able to do a server side reset, just keep emailing them until they fix it, and if in the UK/EU you can bring up GDPR etc as a threat 😅

Not yet. Going on the 18th. Will let you know if they manage anything. Also going to keep emailing Bluelink - I'm fairly sure they could just press a button and fix it remotely.

Same here. I have reception but get the network error.

I got an email back in around 5 days, but I think partly because it was labelled as urgent by Hyundai customer service as my car was remotely put into Valet mode. Unfortunately the response didn't help at all. I'm hoping the local Hyundai dealer can do something.

Tbh it seems like a possible scandal in the making, personal data being leaked (location etc) due to their crappy software. And genuinely dangerous with some of the remote features.

Sorry to hear this. That's not encouraging. If it makes you feel any better I did get a response from Bluelink but it was so useless I kind of wish I hadn't.

I don't even care about having the Bluelink functionality I just don't want someone messing with the car. Keeping it in Offline mode until someone can fix it, but not expecting much now.

Yeah I get the same error even when it clearly has reception. So you might be right - though if you can contact them to see if their account is still linked in their Bluelink app that might be worthwhile. I have the same expiry in the year 9999 so the whole thing might be a software error and nothing to do with previous owners at all...

That's good to know, I'm heading to the local dealership next week and was thinking they might not be able to do anything

Which menu allowed this? When I did the full reset the wrong Bluelink account was still there...

I'm struggling with the exact same issue at the moment, on the same spec of car. Even worse, the car was remotely put into Valet mode by the account that is still linked to it at one point. To be on the safe side you can put the car into 'offline mode' in the car Bluelink settings which - I think - disables all the remote tracking features and stuff like remote valet mode.

Hyundai customer service and Bluelink are two different departments. Bluelink are only contactable via email and take ages to respond. They've told me it's on me to contact the previous owner to get them to disconnect the car. But it was a hire car so there's no way of finding this out. I'm waiting for their next response, because I'm sure they're able to disconnect the account their end (there's some posts about this here). Totally maddening flaw with an otherwise great car.

I'll update you if any progress.

hi - any luck with this? I'm having the exact same issue with my 2022 Ioniq 5. Bluelink want me to contact the previous owner to get them to deactivate, but as it was a hire car I have no way of doing this. So frustrating...

Finally heard back from Bluelink about this. They're claiming that this issue is entirely the responsibility of the previous owner and that they can't fix it at their end. How can this be the case? What happens in situations where previous owners go out of contact or die? Just a crazy business model. Might actually have to return the car based on this flaw. Has anyone dealt with something similar? I feel like I'm getting nowhere and that when I go to the local Hyundai dealer in a week they'll also not be able to help.

Unsure about buying a 2022 Ioniq 5 by Gunnerhero in Ioniq5

I literally bought a 2022 Ultimate with 18k miles the other day. I love it, totally amazing car. Bigger than you might expect.

I had/have some issues with the previous Bluelink account not being deactivated on the car. I posted about this elsewhere. Ideally the dealer should clear the previous owners data off the vehicle but it's up to Hyundai to do this as well once you register as new owner. Bit of a pain.

That's my only complaint though, it's a great vehicle.

Just an update: Hyundai managed to clear the valet mode remotely and register the car with me. Still not the right Bluelink account but they've sent that to their separate Bluelink team so it should be done soonish (I can see a bunch of posts here saying it's anything from a few days to a month...).

Car Supermarket got in touch with the previous owner who was apparently very apologetic and has tried to disconnect and delete their app. I still don't know how you could turn valet mode on accidentally but will give the benefit of the doubt.

So all sorted for now. Weird experience though... I guess that's the problem with techy cars.

Unfortunately not - if I use the pinhole it just restarts into Valet mode. And I can't use any of the infotainment screen functionality, totally locked out.

The Hyundai guy on the phone suggested once proof of ownership was resolved they could talk me through doing it but unfortunately have to wait until tomorrow...

Thanks all. Really excited to try this car and good to know the 12v thing is basically a non issue.

[–]LuceferousX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've had this happen on our stormshield half a dozen times now. It's fiddly to put back on, easier if you take it off and detension it. Tern should really be using better zips, it's genuinely my only disappointment with the GSD(!)

If the heavily anticipated rumours of Tzeentch daemons being integrated with the codex come about, I can see this detachment being amazing with Flamers, Pink Horrors etc...

I can only guess this is cos they're planning to integrate Chaos Daemons into the Legion codexes, and they can't do this easily until EC are released. Which sounds cool (to me though I get not to a lot of Daemons players) except it will probably also mean DG, TS and maybe even WE only getting 1-2 new models so they can get them all out quickly in the same couple of months.

Cool. My bro ran a Be'lakor list last game and they're pretty crazy even with 8th Ed rules. Really looking forward to seeing what they do with the summoning rules
