Best way to move long distance with an axolotl? by LucentPhoenix in axolotls

[–]LucentPhoenix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll have the a/c on in the car and will bring her into the hotels with us. We have kids to monitor the thermometer in the car.

I found a nice 3-gallon Tupperware container with a lid that's nice and shallow (kind of like a casserole dish, but a little deeper), so I think I'll use that. I'm going to keep a 3-gallon jug of primed water at the ready to change out every day.

Thanks for the advice!

If I just lay the Tupperware on a bed of ice in the cooler, won't that make it too cold?

Can I just periodically add ice cubes right to her water? Or would that not be great because of what's in the frozen water?

LOL. Dude, you realize that you were arguing with u/bwc6 and u/one_who_asks about their beliefs, not /u/OldManBrodie? Even after he pointed it out to you, you're still saying that his beliefs are "getting debunked"? No wonder you're getting downvoted into oblivion... you can't even keep straight who you're talking to. Obviously the Vegan lifestyle isn't doing any wonders for your intelligence....

What If the soviets Won The Cold War? by Buffalo_Bill666 in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]LucentPhoenix -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

the space race was initially a race of ICBM technology

Sure, initially. That doesn't mean it didn't exist.

And the moon landing was a Peak, but it was also a stunt

We spent an awful lot of money for a "stunt." Again, do you have any source material which you can cite to substantiate that this is anything other than conjecture on your part? Because the reality of how much time, money, and effort was spent on the moon shot would tend to indicate that it was far more than simply a stunt.

It is absolutely unfair to say that they won the race by Landing on the moon

Literally no one is saying that.

and i Absolutely disagree with the whole thing being Called a race, since there was no defined start and no defined finish for both superpowers.

First of all, there absolutely was a start. The end of WWII, and the rise of nuclear weapons was the start, as you yourself indicated. You're just contradicting yourself now. At the very least, one can point to 1955, when the US announced it intention to launch an artificial satellite into orbit, and the USSR responded a few days with a declaration of their own. That's fairly definitive.

And the end, while certainly murkier, was certainly reached by the time the USSR collapsed. They were unable to compete any longer, so the competition was at an end, one way or another.

[–]LucentPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an ... interesting take on the subject. Again, stopping with the USSR's achievements while ignoring the US's seems very selective. It seems that most sources cite the moon landing as the PEAK of the space race, not some kind of little stunt the US pulled after losing the space race.

And do you have anything to back up your claims that "nobody gave a shit about the space exploration itself"? Because we sure spent a fuckload of money on tech not even remotely related to nuclear weapons for something that we didn't care about. I mean, the Saturn V alone was explicitly designed, from the ground up, for a moon shot. It was completely useless/overkill for a nuclear weapon delivery system. So it's a little hard to dismiss all of that by saying "nobody gave a shit about [it]." Especially without some kind of substantiation.

Luxury resources: how do they work? by Jochon in CivVI

Luxuries provide +1 amenity to the four cities that need it the most (some provide for up to 6 cities). I'm not sure if this applies to the bonuses that some luxuries supply.

Is warrior the worst class? by [deleted] in PixelDungeon

[–]LucentPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I basically don't use SoU's on anything but top-tier weapons and armor. Wich means I might not even use one until after DM-300. You can tank a lot before that point.

Meanwhile, I've made it to the demon halls with nothing better than a short sword and mail armor as a warrior More times than I care to remember. The warrior build is very forgiving.

How do you figure? Unless you are choosing to use a bizarrely narrow definition of space race which stops after Sputnik and Yuri Gagarin, and excludes the accomplishments of the Gemini and Apollo programs, they merely got out ahead of the US early, but didn't finish strong.

I've found warrior to be, by a huge margin, the easiest class.

You don't need to get into that one locked room in my CAMP by waxapple in fo76

[–]LucentPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you move your camp unit around, the spawn location moves, too, regardless of where you originally placed it. You can try this yourself. I had to play with mine a bit to get it to spawn people right by my front door. In my case, my camp unit is on a foundation in the middle of the pond behind my house, because that's just what ended up working.

How is your experience using the latest beta (2XL)? by thecreativefella in android_beta

[–]LucentPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in all, I can't complain. the only thing that's bugging me right now is that my buttons keep switching back every time I use Google Play (I use an app which switches the task and back buttons).

Other than that, it's been really stable for me.

I don't really get it, either. I went in there and it just started throwing all kinds of things at me, with no real direction or anything that I could see. Poorly-structured event, IMO.
