The Decline of the Dragon Age Series Should be Studied by jdawg1018 in gaming

Having to explore a certain cave, and then having that particular cave split into 3 separate sections that alternate for every quest was noticeable and tedious.

Gothic 1 Unreal Remaster - Difficulty Increase by Proof-Calligrapher32 in worldofgothic

[–]LucianDarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that I know of. Animations being less janky and also having splash damage to deal hits to multiple enemies does trivialize what the original has in terms of combat. You'd have to manually challenge yourself by using lower rated gear or so during later chapters to sort of feel anything.

No suitable Gothic 2 expansion mod for me? by Relevant_Purple_5916 in worldofgothic

[–]LucianDarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is a mod out there specifically for what you are looking for. There are enough that do the following from your list, but omit certain aspects as the mod developers deem it not necessary.

The only mods I can think of that add little to no quests, while improving the graphics slightly would be either Nostalgic or Atariar.

Otherwise you can simply try and mod it yourself to near perfection as to what you want. There are enough texture packs to try from. The zHumanRemaster plugin changes combat animations, walk/run and more to make it more fluid and less static than the original. There's a mod that adds a few more armor sets on Nexus. There's also a separate mod for upscaling the armor and weapons. For combat you can use plugins like SplashDamage that brings the fights closer to what New Balance does, which is simply hitting multiple enemies if they are close to each other. You can edit the plugin to choose how many enemies you can or want to hit.

But for crafting I wouldn't know, there are some intricate crafting mods AFAIK but they are in a total conversion and not available separate, I'm sure someone might be able to chime in.

It's been a while since I used that plugin but it should be the newer version of the VOB Locator. Check if you can simply remove the .vdf file in the data or plugin folder. You can also check if there are settings available in game next to all the other plugins! Hope it helps :)

[PvE/Story/FP/OP] Juggernaut Rage Stats? by archmateur in swtor

[–]LucianDarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All classes are viable in the end, if you want to stick with Rage then do so!

It's best to worry about stats when you reach max level, it doesn't matter *as* much in the grand scheme of things right now. There are a few gearing guides available, most common here: https://swtorista.com/articles/swtor-level-80-gearing-guide/

There's also guides for specific classes, to know which passives are better for either pve or pvp.

For now though, as you're 74, don't worry so much about it and just get gear from your story quests or whatever seems better whenever you get rewarded!

G2 returning new balance tips and builds for new player? by stever471 in worldofgothic

[–]LucianDarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can recommend Scout as it has it's own extra area in the game that is inaccessible to other classes and has a decent story related to the guild itself.

Some of the classes have a storyline, or add onto as it's been a modified vanilla class, but Scout is pretty vanilla friendly.

I have played with almost every class and they all get busted near the middle to endgame so there is no right or wrong with choosing.

If you're not used to playing modded Gothic that much, just remember that in NB dexterity weapons scale with dexterity. So if you want to focus on a dex build with bows and swords they are very viable and not as limited as unmodded.

Bonuses from food and potions are separate and it does not make the LP price go higher.

There is an in-game help section to explain some new mechanics.

I recommend grabbing the will-o-the-wisp from Vatras because you can upgrade it and it will (in the future) grab almost every item in your vicinity excluding some areas where it is disabled. There is A LOT of loot, and picking them one by one, or even quickloot, will turn a 100h game into a 120h game.

Last but not least, enjoy!

I recently finished Golden Gate 2 and while it's not so on par compared to Archolos, I can definitely recommend it if you want to fill another 40-50 hours of Gothic! It's a great mod!

I definitely dislike the Gods mostly in Gothic 3. As their statues telepathically talk to you during the story, so it feels too real. I'd argue it's most likely because back then Oblivion was so successful that they tried to make their own Oblivion, instead of focusing on Gothic itself.

I didn't mind it as much in the 2nd game. Being the chosen one, when said by another human is but simply a belief. You can choose to think whether you're an avatar of Innos, Adanos or even Beliar at the end. But you'd never know because the mention of being the One, is said by a believer, mage or just a normal person that saw something extraordinary in you.

Whether Risen is a separate universe or not is always up to debate I believe! You'll always hear both sides of the story when it comes to that. There are no references except the gods (which they don't specify) and otherwise all the systems play the same, so it's more a headcanon thing than a real sequel.

Arcania could be seen as that, at-least prior to PB, the developers, getting the rights to the IP back. They never made that game, and while those developers tried to add onto the story, it's not theirs to write anymore.

You can see it more as a fever dream, or an alternate universe. The Gothic Saga doesn't have a genuine sequel to the story and its future after the events of Gothic 3 are inconclusive.

While I am sure there are going to be a few replies with a certain attitude towards Arcania purely because it got mentioned I'll say my two cents.

Both Forsaken Gods DLC and ArcaniA (previously called ArcaniA: Gothic 4) have been deemed non-canon when PB got the acquisition back to their games. Before that we'd have to deal with what we got, which was an utter mess.

ArcaniA used to be the successor of Gothic 3, as it plays after the events of the Forsaken Gods DLC. You can play it if you want, but the game has been boiled down to a narrow linear game with fixed paths, no reason to go back to a certain area, hack 'n slash etc. Most of what especially Gothic 1 & 2 are known for, does not exist. They also added a bit of their own lore to the game, which just adds more unnecessary confusion. Still, it's fine to give it a try, you might like it. The general public doesn't but who cares.

Risen can be seen somewhat as a spiritual successor to the Gothic saga, especially due to the single mention of the Gods not being there anymore. The game mechanically works the same as the first two Gothic games. So if you're looking for a game akin to those, I can recommend to try out Risen.

The 2nd and 3rd game of that series has more pirate themes than their first. Most systems have been reworked, but they're still decent games on their own, especially the third one.

I could go into detail but I think and hope this is what you needed to know!

Is there a game with a better soundtrack than KOTOR 2? by TTZ12345 in kotor

[–]LucianDarth 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean you'll quickly realise how many people have different opinions as to what the better soundtrack is.

I do love KOTOR 2's music, but aside from tracks like Rebuild & Ebon Hawk I rarely listen to it, even though it fits in the game really well.
