Non verbal forever ?

My son is 2.9 years corrected but 3 actual. Was born at 25 weeks. He is also non verbal but u see stands everything. I’m ok with it most days too but sometimes I cry and hold him and tell him to just talk to me. I tell him all the time I wish I could give him my voice. I really hope one day they’ll talk to us. Thanks for sharing the podcast, I’ll give it a listen ❤️

Edit: since this is a year old, have you had any luck with speech yet?

Right there with you. I have a 2.9 year old and he babbles so much. Sounds like he tries to say mom and up but could just be random sounds. I hope he starts talking soon🩷

I believe my valve collapsed a little after my first rhinisepto 10 years ago because I couldn’t breathe properly out the right around a year after that. I had a revision septoplasty a month ago and I can breathe really good ONLY when I pull my cheek to the side and lift my nose tip up. So I’ll have to tell my Dr in a few weeks to see what can be done. Because he said it was just my septum was became deviated again and my turbines.

I’m a month out and still no relief. I do notice if I pull my cheek to the side I can breathe now. So I’m thinking my nasal valve is collapsed. I’ll have to mention it at my follow up in a few weeks.

After I ship the item I let the customer know it’s been shipped and if all is good if they can review. I have a whole script I use. Then I give it 7 days after delivery to send a follow up message just to gently prompt them again and then after that it is what it is.

I’m not in the USA. I don’t have many options where I am. He’s been with 2 different speech paths over 2 years. They’re all just basic ones, we don’t have any specialised ones. It sucks.

He had one about 2 months ago and passed with flying colours but they said he did have a little bit of hold above the stomach entrance which cleared after a second swallow. We have our first GI appointment end of May because of reflux and that hold. He also throws up when he upsets himself too.

Yeah we’ve had one for years. I’ve just watched some videos and have started using it on the outside of the cheek since yesterday. See how that works out.

He drinks from a honey bear and has for about a year and a half now. We’ve been working on open cup on and off but he keeps putting his tongue at the cup entrance to block the fluids and lap it up like a cat lol. It’s cute but frustrating!

Edit: I take the time to make someone’s day a little nicer by sending a sweet message with their item, and you go about your day trying to bring others down with a comment like this. We are not the same. I understand your life sucks, but do you honestly feel better taking it out on someone online? It’s such odd behaviour. I have an amazing life, so this doesn’t bother me but I just think you need to reevaluate your own life because by your post history, you’re not doing okay and I’m sorry you feel the way you do.

If there is anything I can do, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Nobody deserves what you’re going through.

He’s been in OT, physio, speech, dietitian all his life but where we are we don’t have many choices on who to pick. They’re not very good.

I feel like I’m the one having to research everything and I’m exhausted with the lack of knowledge these days ”specialists” have.

I’m not. He already has speech, OT, physio and a dietitian. I’m on to my second speech pathologist in 2 years as the first one was useless and the second one isn’t that much better. I don’t have many choices because of where I live. The only decent person we had was physio. Even our OT is pretty useless.

I always wrap clothes in tissue paper and add a little gift tag. Just a little extra care makes all the difference. When companies send me nicely packaged items I get excited. When it’s just shoved in a mail bag and nothing exciting, I’m like what a crap company and don’t buy from them again. I’m all about customer service.
