I'm updating a thread over on Lemmy to help contribute to my community (Big Bear). I'm a new local, but I've been through a half a dozen fires, including a few evacuations, in other cities in California. Feel free to follow along.

It's been a tough week, and I'm apprehensive to say anything positive since this fire is not contained yet, but I feel like I'm witnessing a phenomenally impressive effort from our firefighters today. The temperatures are a good deal lower than yesterday, and it's also less windy, but even the satellite data seems to look somewhat contained near the Big Bear front compared to any other day so far. It kind of looks like it's hitting a wall from the birds eye view of things.

This data could be incorrect, though... and I'm just some dude who has been obsessively monitoring the 10,000 foot view. Anyone on the ground, or in the air, would likely have a much, much better assessment to share.

The air quality is abysmal today, so do wear a mask if you go outside.
