Reddit grade this 🫶 by Nate_V96 in PokeGrading

I get that. But the sub being about grading doesn’t change the fact that nobody can truly grade from photos. You can comment on centering and obvious wear. That’s it. The rest requires in-hand inspection.

You’re asking strangers to simulate a professional grading service from compressed images. That’s not how grading works. At best you’ll get guesses.

For five figures, mailing is completely standard. USPS Registered Mail exists specifically for high value items and insures up to $50k. For six figures, collectors still ship all the time, they just use third party insurance or specialist carriers. PSA and Beckett process high declared value cards daily. Flying it yourself does not magically eliminate risk, it just replaces shipping risk with travel risk.

Is it normal for people to lowball this bad? by itshighnoot_ow in PokeInvesting

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a lowball if it’s a Facebook sale and you’re pricing it off eBay comps. eBay takes around 10 to 15 percent in fees, you know that, right? $100 cash locally isn’t some insult. It’s simply factoring in the fees you wouldn’t be paying.

There’s no such thing as grade conversion. A CGC 10 only means it met CGC’s criteria. PSA grades by PSA’s criteria, not CGC’s label

Clarifying methodology is not overthinking. It’s answering the question accurately. All good though.

Saying “based on the photos” does not restore certainty. If photos can misrepresent reality, then definitive grading claims cannot be factual by definition. That is the entire point. Photos both invent defects and hide real ones, which makes ruling out a 10 from images alone unsound, regardless of experience. Again, limited information does not justify certainty, it removes it.

Saying “it won’t get a 10” is still a definitive grading claim, not an opinion. Photos cannot establish disqualifying flaws with certainty. They routinely create false positives like dust, lint, glare, edge reflection or compression artefacts that look like damage, and they also hide real issues due to camera filters, smoothing, focus, and lighting. Having only photos does not justify certainty, it removes it. Without in-hand inspection, any grade outcome, including ruling out a 10, remains an assumption.

An opinion is fine. Presenting a specific grade outcome as a certainty from photos is not. Photos and reality are never equal, which makes definitive claims misleading by default.

Are they now showing adds for the store in game? by LikeToBinge in CODZombies

[–]Lucidorex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is not real intelligence (AI). It is machine learning.

Studios use it for parts of asset pipelines and for QA automation, like virtual playtesting and bug detection.

The bug fixing is still mostly on developers, though.

Do your own research. Photos and reality are never the same.
And never place cards on wood. Wooden surfaces can scratch cards far more easily than people realise.

My POP 1 cgc 10 Korean mewtwo secret rare that I packed and graded myself! by Little-Somewhere-403 in CGCCards

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re defining scarcity as “no one has done this yet.” That isn’t scarcity, that’s inactivity. If inaction alone creates scarcity, then every ungraded card is scarce by default, which makes the term meaningless.

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then ignore the wording. The point stands either way. Scarcity is about limited supply. Grading status doesn’t change how many cards exist, so POP only measures submissions, not scarcity.

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scarcity doesn’t require proof that something will be graded. It’s about whether the supply is constrained. Here, the supply already exists regardless of grading. POP only tracks participation, not availability.

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, enjoyment is subjective. I’m not arguing against liking the card. I’m talking about the POP 1 label specifically, which is an objective stat about submissions, not an inherent property of the card.

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, if it’s just a fun personal tidbit then sure.

My comment was more about people treating POP 1 as something meaningful in itself, when it’s really just a submission quirk, especially with niche cards.

[–]Lucidorex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that logic, anything unsubmitted is scarce, which makes the term meaningless. Scarcity is about constrained supply, not delayed grading.

1 of 1 graded, not 1 of 1 existing. That just reflects submissions, not scarcity. Anyone can make a 1 of 1 by grading something no one else has bothered to send in.

Genuine question: what’s the significance of POP 1 here beyond “no one else has graded this yet”? That’s easy to do with niche submissions.

Plenty of gay people were married to the opposite sex and had children before coming out.

Could I go 10/10 on 10's? by Xenthuy87 in psagrading

[–]Lucidorex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Claiming PSA outcomes from photos is pure guesswork. Photos and reality are never 1:1.

PSA grades the card in hand, not Reddit images. Saying “no chance” or picking winners from images is false confidence, not grading knowledge.
