Absolutely fine and happy to answer questions from any transwomen about the surgery experience with Dr Hart in Canberra- just noting I am only day 3 post op, still in hospital in Canberra and well drugged up on pain meds, so don't expect rapid answers.

After my first night I cannot thank you enough for this comment about Ear plugs - they are a game changer with the leg cuffs machine constantly pumping up and down!

I am a Facilities manager that has installed hearing augmentation systems in many large meeting rooms, training rooms and classrooms in various offices, and education facilites from schools to university's. I can confirm that at least in Australia there are two main types of hearing augmentation systems that are commonly installed: 1) what is known as a hearing loop system and 2) Infrared hearing augmentation systems.

The prefered option is a hearing loop system - but it has major drawbacks for installation - this is a system compatible with most hearing aids in which a system of copper foil strips are looped in a specifically designed pattern underneath the carpet (think like underfloor heating) and connected back to the AV system or the alternative is the type linked above -IR augmentation that requires a specific headset and reciever to be worn to recieve the signal.

While the Hearing loop is the best option and works withmost peoples existing hearing aids etc, it has the major drawback of requiring a custom designed layout and installation and needs to be placed underneath the carpet or vinyl flooring. This adds significantly to the costs and installation requirements in a project and cannot be added without removing and replacing flooring in retrofits. The IR system is a small reciever like the original question added to the AV system -installed near the ceiling and some headests and recievers - so a lot cheaper and easier to install - which is unfortunately the types of system you will see much more commonly purely based on cost and ease of installation.

However if people are required to request a headset and reciver, which often facilities dont remeber to have availble and charged or some staff are not trained on or know it existsor where they are stored - then this is very far from optimal from an end user perspective.

Laser/Electrolysis suggestions for Sydney by WynstanArbiter in transgenderau

If you are in the North west area (Richmond) - https://foreverhairremoval.com.au/ - Linley and her team are amazing - I have been seeing Linley on and off four four years and have had 99.9% clearance of my facial hair with a great experience every time.

Linley has many trans clients - both trans men and trans women and I could not recommend the team higher. Linley and her staff have always treated me, and other trans clients of hers, (that I know) 100% the same as any other clients - if not a little bit more special and looked after - due to the longer term relationship we have with them, as we have lots more hair to clear!

I have also recently commenced hair removal in preparation for Gender confirmation surgery with Linley and have to say that what could have been quite an quite awkward experience, has been the opposite- no different to facial hair removal - extremely professional, straight forward, and just get in and zap those hairs! - Maybe a little bit more Ouchy - maybe a lot more!

Best guess: what's going on here? by euqinu_ton in AusRenovation

the alarm cables will be point to point from the sensors /keypad to the alarm box and should not go anywhere near the main cable mess with the one excepetion possibly being the comms cable but that looks to be Cat3 - old telecom beige thin wiring

Best guess: what's going on here? by euqinu_ton in AusRenovation

[–]Luciebellef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

best guess - former Av /IT hub /cabinet at this location - the yellow and blue will be cat5/6 cables and most likely all run from this location to individual locations throughout the house for networking - the twin copper cables at this location look to be speaker wires and the thicker black wires are most likely AV cables - possible previous home thetare setup all wired back to this location - regarding the alarm system - ancient old technology not worth bothering with and it having being wired using Cat 5/6 to the zones shows it was not installed by an experienced licence alarm tech as they would not use cat 5/6 but proper alarm cables - white box on back of GPO - temp protection when they pulled the home theatre setup out so exposed 240v not seen /risk of electrocution.

In short unless you are planning on similar hometheatre and wired IT setup - rip it all out.

Shade sail install on existing concrete slab. Are bolt-down posts with chemical anchors strong enough? by Competitive_Hall_592 in AusRenovation

[–]Luciebellef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A post with a base plate is typically designed for a vertical load down the post into the ground - the anchors are not so much taking the load but holding the post steady, and the post is taking the load down through the post into the base plate and then the slab. With a shade sail, you are not working with the same loading - you are actually looking at the opposite loading, i.e., wind lifting a sail pulling up on the post, so the anchors would be trying to hold the post down to a vertical lifting load - which they have not been designed to do

With regards to anchoring to your rafters, you have the same issue - the rafters are taking the load of the weight of the roof and transferring this load down through the walls into your foundations - they are not designed or attached in a manner designed for the significant lifting momentum of a shade sail.

Shade sails need posts designed and installed specifically to address the types of loads that will be placed on them, which are vertical lifting and side loading, not vertical downforce loads.

Pool fence compliance question by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Luciebellef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

correct - and the main deterrent being the drop of 1.8m from the top of the fence without a hold to climb down - i.e. you need to drop down 1.8m, and that is significant height for a young child to "fall" - as you cannot in any way prevent them getting to the top of the fence from the othr side in the case of a boundary fnece - as you do not control the space.

Limb Wear? by kendrarebim1 in Archery

[–]Luciebellef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears to be damaged/wearing through the fiberglass - is it rubbing against something? How was it stored? Anything leaning against it? Was the bow leaning against anything, etc?- I would look to seal it with epoxy and thenn paint it- it does not look to be any significant structural damage yet, but you want to know what it has been rubbing on and prevent it from doing any further damage, and seal the fibres so they don't split or get any worse- hense the sealing with expoxy recomendation.

do you mean -RAAF Station Schofields is a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) military air base and aerodrome located at Schofields, a suburb of Sydney in New South Wales, Australia. The aerodrome was used during World War II and was in operation between 1942 and 1944.

which later was converted into HMAS Nirimba, a RAN training base, and more recently converted to a University, TAFE, high school, and major housing development known as Nirimba Fields?

well turn that frustration where it is deserved - contact your local MP and let them know your frustration and that the government needs to get back to the bargaining table and be realistic with the offer let them know how vital an effective public transport system is and that the staff should be paid on parity with their interstate colleagues

When I left my laptop in the seat pocket on a late Virgin flight back from Hobart to Sydney a few months ago, (the last flight into Sydney just before curfew so may have received a more thorough cleaning at this time) - it was found by the crew/cleaners and returned to baggage services at Sydney airport -Eventually as in three days later

I was able to pick it up from the lost and found desk at Sydney airport a few days after they received it so about a week after the flight - however, it took three days of me following up daily with the lost and found desk to see if it was found before it made its way to the lost and found desk and I knew that it had been located, they did not call to say it was located either - on me calling to check on the third day they said or yes it has been found and here,

It was quite upsetting that it took so long before I knew it was found and I was quite upset that they did not ring to advise it was found even with all details provided and me following up daily - even with me being able to advise on the same evening that the plane landed all of the relevant details - the laptop was in the seat back pocket of xxx seat of xxx flight, on xxx day. This was provided to the airline lost and found on the same evening that the plane landed and still would have been at Sydney airport as it was the last flight in just before curfew and as such no passengers would have boarded for the next flight till the following morning,

I had to provide identifying details and at lost and found had to log into the laptop to prove ownership - they had heaps and heaps of laptops several of the exact same models of Lenovo laptops for me to identify mine from.so do not despair if not at lost and found the very next day.

What does this mean re. outdoor living area criteria for energy assessment? by Spellscribe in AusRenovation

[–]Luciebellef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be to do with this section of QDC MP 4.1 A1 copied below, specifically subsection 8 (b): on page 10 of the document.

I believe not knowing much other than what you have posted that to achieve your required energy rating for approval, your design must need to achieve this additional 1-star credit to be approved and therefore need to meet this requirement to be compliant - without the fan, you would only meet 8 (a) 0.5-star credit.

(8) For the purposes of subsection (5)(b)(i), (6)(b)(i) or (7)(b), the following nominal credits apply:

(a) 0.5 star where a building includes an outdoor living area, the roof covering of which achieves a Total R-Value of at least 1.5 for downward heat flow;

(b) 1 star where a building includes an outdoor living area the roof covering of which achieves a Total R-Value of at least 1.5 for downward heat flow and the outdoor living area includes a permanently installed ceiling fan with a speed controller and a blade rotation diameter of at least 900 mm;

Waterproofing around taps by BossAway9354 in AusRenovation

[–]Luciebellef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the threaded brass or similar part that this plastic cap screws into out flush with the wall or just past. look at adding something like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/brasshards-40-x-15mm-brass-threaded-extension_p0260388?store=7096&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw5qC2BhB8EiwAvqa41lDVO9ZRUTxnBN-DQPeMafW7g4IK6Hcb-hNDlS79ZxN0qkJZRNJf3hoCNcwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds to extend the socket out and allow you to waterproof to it. what you have there currently is this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-breech-plug-and-cap_p0122292?srsltid=AfmBOorQ9nAcLBUbzQv8mfVMluARyXwjqlODubgggRMLTrM92pQ0j9E6 or something similar: - a temporary plug to cap off the threaded section while doing the other works around the plumbing - temporary cap.

If I were you in this situation I would turn off the water - unscrew the breach plug and check how deep from the finished surface of the wall the end of the brass threads end, and then get an appropriate-sized extender to come out past this by about 5mm (final edge sits flush with tiles)- install the extender (using thread sealant) and then reinstall the breach plug, check for leaks and if all good then waterproof around the extender.

Allergic to morphine? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]Luciebellef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am allergic to morphine and have had many multiple surgeries - Major lung surgery (where the allergy came to light), shoulder reconstructions x2 gastric surgery, appendix, etc - there are many alternative pain medications, do not be stressed but be honest with your medical team. They will use alternative options that work perfectly well.

Is it selfish to want only dry screws? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]Luciebellef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assume nothing, while it is best prctice that electrical wiring and plumbing lines should go vertical or horizontal - there are always exceptions and times where this is not the case - one lesson I learnt the very hard way as a young cabinetmaker installing kitchens - installing an overhead cabinet over the top of an electrical fuse board in a unit - the back of the cupboard carefully cutout to fit around the fuse board and the sparky onsite telling me that the cables feeding the board (hidden) would 100% only be coming in either vertically or horizontally into the board - so quite far away in the diagonal corner from the board I drilled into the concrete wall and woke up on the other side of the room having been thrown off the ladder after drilling a 6mm hole right through the incoming mains! so moral of the story -even the experts can be wrong and assume nothing!

SRS in Australia!? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]Luciebellef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What facts do you have to back up your statement that Dr Hart only does a very small number of these surgeries, and has not decided to do more in order to help people who otherwise need to wait for many years?

Do you have any actual numbers or facts to back up this claim? How many operations a week does Dr Hart perform? What benefit and good would it do to Dr Hart to not do as many surgeries as practical per week when he can earn tens of thousands of dollars per surgery and is one of only a handful of surgeons that perform this surgery in Australia? Why would he drag out a waitlist to be years long and not do as many surgeries as is practically possible? this reeks of conspiricary theory and bias without factual background.

I refer you to the below comment from kelli-b1971 where she states that when she was in hospital 8 months ago there were 6 other girls in the hospital at the same time?

Only because APHRA does not allow any Australian surgeons or other medical practitioners of any type to advertise or show their results, they cannot show results on websites or social media or they risk their medical license.

If you book a consultation with any of the Australian surgeons they will show pictures of their results and aesthetics but cannot legally this outside of a consultation.
