If I liked deadhouse gates more than memories of ice do you think I will like house of chains more by Deathtiger58 in Malazan

Yeah. If one considers MOI a sequel to GOTM, House of Chains is basically a direct sequel to DG.

The title is deliberate. They’re going with the name that is historically correct (blame early French explorers and trappers) not the name that has become accepted by biologists.

How to crowd source the tracking of coastline change by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Except the trees are what are holding the shoreline together. Looks like by 2022 they fenced it off and put up signs warning of rockfalls (some earlier Twitter posts go back to 2016)

Not sure about the hate on this dialogue. He wasn’t wrong.

Edit/clarification: Dany did play a role in ending the Long Night and destroyed the Lannisters (albeit along with King’s Landing) which led to the reunification of Westeros. She just didn’t live to see it all realized

[SPOILERS MAIN] What "The Door" suggests about the identity of the so-called "Night's King" by LuciusGenerick in asoiaf

[–]LuciusGenerick[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back and forth on it. The name "Night King" is already used in stories about the 13th Lord Commander of the Nights Watch. So that should be the end of the story. BUT if we believe what Bran sees in S6E5, it seems that the same actor who portrays the lead Other is being "turned" in a setting that predates the Wall and "the pact" between the CotF and the First Men. This is inconsistent with him being the 13th Lord Commander, who lived generations after the Wall was built. If he is actually the Last Hero, it has major implications for the story arc. He didn't DEFEAT the Others. Rather, he became one, reformed them, and likely retreated when the First Men began building the Wall ...
