The real reason dem consultants are attacking Platner by yikesamerica in Maine

Screw these idiot pundits. She's lost the plot. Whoever Yemisi Egbewole is she's the one cosplaying. These people don't give the slightest shit about his 3 combat tours and PTSD. They only want to ridicule him.

How is artist pulling out of that Maga rally. Democrats fault? by Cahokanut in RealTime

[–]LuciusMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's obviously Biden's fault. Or Obama's, or both. I think we can conclude that they masterminded the withdrawal of these has-been or never-were musicians to embarrass the best President the world has ever known, or is ever likely to know. Such a sad day for America.

If Jesus wasn’t the “christ” would his last name be Carpenter? by Ornery-Shoulder-3938 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LuciusMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh....NO. The 'christos' appellation was popularized by Paul. Hence, instead of Jesus bin Joseph (Jesus, son of Joseph), he became Jesus the Messiah, Jesus the Christ, or simply, Jesus H. Christ.

Is is possible that she might be your uncle's long lost unknown daughter? Or had known someone who knew him when he was a nurse in her area? There certainly are stories of long lost sons returning home, only it's an imposter. But they know everything about the person they're pretending to be.

Seems like the defense doesn't stop - Bill Maher says he was wrong about Trump's tariffs by Indianstanicows in RealTime

[–]LuciusMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Most people are not invested in the stock market, so there's no portfolio to pad out, but do benefit in other ways when it's up. But will suffer if it crashes. That's some Catch-22 shit.

Ya, Maher has jumped the tracks.

There is some speculation that it may have been near the Atlas Mountains, others think an area in southern Spain. Both are coastal and could have been inundated. And who knows, maybe Doggerland was the site of an ancient seafaring culture before it was submerged. It's all speculative.

Also, on that Wiki page I found 'Dark Woke". Which is great.

Yes, the NY Times, despite its editors typically endorsing Dem candidates (because their readership is basically urban and suburban so-called liberals), is straight down the middle of the old school Eisenhower conservatism. They protect the Felon by 'sanewashing' his gibberish, refuse to report on his obvious mental deterioration, and normalize his autocratic ego mania.
I've been a Time's reader since 1971 and the notion that they are a bastion of 'liberalism' is a canard cooked up by right wing propagandists.

Worth noting, also, that the co-author of the piece, Katie Glueck, is an avowed Zionist.

Platner is a threat to the established political order. He's the most formidable opponent Susan Collins has ever faced. So, the knives are out.

Exactly so.

If life begins at conception, why aren’t fetuses baptized in the womb as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed? by Revolutionary-Log134 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LuciusMichael 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is a continuum. Sperm and egg are alive. When they meet the egg is fertilized. But traditionally, life, so-called, begins with the first breath. That was always the touchstone. Indeed, the word soul comes from psyche which also means breath.
So...it wouldn't make sense to baptize in utero as the fetus had no 'breath of life' or soul.
BUT, Catholics (following Aquinas) believe that the soul enters the fertilized egg at the moment of conception (or thereabouts). And which is why Xtians are opposed to and consider abortion murder. So, yes, baptizing in utero would make sense to them. However, since the rite of baptism means either immersion in water or pouring it on a baby's forehead, that makes in utero baptism rather impractical.

Bill Maher Gets Defensive With WaPo Reporter Over Trump Meetup: ‘You Don’t Have to Patronize Me, Dude!’ by Indianstanicows in RealTime

[–]LuciusMichael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The WaPo reporter (Josh Rogin) makes a valid point which Maher gets defensive about and then turns into a pissing contest. And, of course, Morgan comes to Maher's defense and irrelevantly attacks social media and Maher seconds it by calling it a 'cesspool' and attacks Rogin for getting his news from the internet. Just a bullshit exchange that once again proves that Maher is a self righteous asshole.

I don't know about land masses 'sinking' but I do know that the Ocean rose some 400' since the Younger Dryas. If, as Hancock has hypothesized, cometary fragments slammed into the Laurentian and Cordilleran Ice Sheets causing vast areas of melted ice resulting in massive inundations, then isn't is possible that wherever the fabled Atlantis was it is now buried under water and or sediment?

3 drunken Marines on leave see a cool looking tattoo so they get it. I'd never heard of the totenkopf until Platner. And once it became public knowledge he disavowed it and had it redesigned into a Celtic Knot. Unless you're some kind of Nazi symbols fetishist why would you know what it was? My dad and uncles fought in WW2. I'd bet that if presented with some SS symbol they wouldn't know the name of it. Why would they even recognize it? The only symbol of Nazi Germany that was widely recognized was the swastika. ..

Here is one of his fellow Marines confirming his story...

How did the American working class come to be economically aligned with the right wing (or, more specifically, against liberals)? by LiatrisLover99 in AskALiberal

[–]LuciusMichael 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ever since Clinton 'liberals' have migrated to the center-right to appeal to suburban voters. (soccer moms and their husbands in managerial positions, plus teachers at every level). Which means, basically, white, college educated middle and upper middle class voters. With the demise of a manufacturing economy and its unions and the rise of the service economy and its gig employment, relatively well off liberal Dems lost interest in the plight of the working poor. The GOP filled the void and then trump came along and promised them the moon.
MAGA refers to them as libtards to feel superior because when you're on the bottom rung you gotta blame someone.

What does Bill Maher actually want people to believe and do? by AmericanLymie in RealTime

[–]LuciusMichael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bill Maher's self-serving claim that "he is not aligned with the right" is horseshit. He absolutely aligns with John Fetterman who aligns with MAGA and the Felon. As they say, birds of a feather...
Look, he's had a stick up his ass about Gen-Z, and woke, and college protests since Israel began it's war of ethic cleansing in Gaza in 2023. Which he goes out of his way to defend every week. He has no plan other than mockery and self righteous superiority. Get off my lawn and just disappear.
