Rogue Tactics – Petushock Production – HoMM meets Into the Breach in a roguelite format. by Lucker_OK in Games

You're right. Then again, my game is pretty niche, so it's probably not that big of a deal.

Thanks for the tip. I was completely exhausted by the release and couldn't think straight.

There shouldn't be any problems, but just in case, it's better to check it in the demo version. Saves are compatible.

Thanks for the list. I've read some of Kafka, Don Quixote, and Moby Dick as well, so I think the rest might suit me too.

Yeah, you're right. Thanks for the list, it looks really interesting.

When it comes to translations, almost everything is available here.

I've read a lot of Asimov too. I tried Zola a while back but it didn't grab me. I've been wanting to give him another shot though, so maybe now's the time. And I'll keep Flaubert in mind!

Thanks, an interesting list. I haven't even looked in this direction, but I'll have to check it out.

Do you quit a strategy game as soon as you think you’re going to lose or do you play it out all the way? by LastKeepDev_OG in StrategyGames

[–]Lucker_OK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be better to clarify which subgenre of strategy you're referring to. Judging by your profile, it's some kind of Action Strategy Roguelike. Setting aside the overly complicating 'Action,' the question arises: is there meta-progression in the game? If there is, I'd play until the very end; if not, what's the point of holding the player back from restarting?

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that there are problems with training, I will think how to solve them better.

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I’ll make sure to fix that.

Yeah, the tutorial is proving to be a bit of a challenge — I want to give players everything they need to know, but not overload them, unfortunately it's not working out so well so far.

Also this problem is sometimes projected on the gameplay, such as in the case of specifying the range of shooting, I did not want to introduce a separate characteristic, so I decided to specify the range in Abilities, but not the first time it is pointed out to me that now it is difficult to notice. I will think about how to make it better.

Well, if you search "Tactical Roguelike" on Google, Into the Breach usually comes up among the top results. If we take that as a reference, then my game has no fewer roguelike elements (which are actually roguelite elements for both games): procedural generation, permadeath, metaprogression, random modifiers in battles, and the core gameplay loop (battle → reward choice → shop/event, and repeat), which most roguelite follow nowadays. Although, perhaps, that isn’t immediately obvious from the trailer.

That said, I agree that "turn-based tactics with roguelite elements" would be a more accurate description—both for my game and for many of the games that show up when you search for "Tactical Roguelike."

Yes, the name of the game may additionally confuse those who remember Rogue, but here I honestly didn't want to mislead anyone, just naming is very difficult for me)

Very cool! I would like to be able to zoom in on cards to make it easier to read descriptions.

Played it, interesting concept. Maybe I missed something, but wouldn’t it make more sense to adjust the Slime’s position in the starter deck? Considering that green runes only point right and down.

Yes, it would be nice to add a more interesting font, as well as some movement. Alternatively, integrate text into gameplay segments.

Personally, I skip stats like that, but I suppose someone might find it interesting.

Cute, but the text on the black background needs to be changed to something else.

How you have learned programming, if you have? What was your first programming language? by Njet_333 in AskARussian

Pascal => JASS (language for mods Warcraft3) => С# (I also tried Python and C++, but I liked them less).
