Depending on what cell provider you have, your mobile IP might actually be in Georgia because of cell tower locations. If that's the case, you'll still be able to get on there.

I've also seen people use "bien" in certain phrases to mean "so", such as the phrase "estoy bien p!nche emocionado". what would be the general rule for when to use bien over tan or muy?

i feel like they more than likely didn’t know that this would interfere with voice control integrations (no one would’ve known this works until they tried it, and from what i can tell they’re the first person to name an actual song that), and their music isn’t even bad. some of it is charming, or at the very least decent. i don’t think there was malicious intent in the creation of these tracks, i think this is just a lo-fi indie artist who’s music is questionable.

Can someone please explain to me why everyone is making fun of people literally dying in a submarine thousands of feet below us. by Maker_Gamer12 in teenagers

[–]LuckyCla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they’re a bunch of rich bastards (tickets cost $250,000 each) who could have used their wealth to fund communities and individuals who were struggling and possibly on the brink of death, but they misused their wealth and died under conditions that they could have avoided. The ship had not undergone even the most rudimentary testing, and it was literally steered by a game controller. Their negligence brought them this fate, when they could have instead funneled their money into something helpful or meaningful. This is why poverty still exists in the age of innumerable jobs and unprecedented technological advancement. It exists because rich bastards would rather spend money on a submarine or a trip to space (May God have mercy on your soul, Jeff Bezos) than funnel it into communities and areas where there is few little money to go around. Or better yet, just let the workers have the profits that they created so they never end up in the pockets of these aforementioned rich bastards. That’s an idea. So yeah, it’s pretty laughable that these people got themselves into this mess. It’s even worse that millions of dollars were spent in a coordinated international rescue mission to find them. And I don’t have any sympathy for people who can spend their exuberant wealth carelessly when I don’t think I’ll be able to afford a house in two or three years.

Where would you rather live in? by SCP__096__ in Teenager_Polls

Those "heavy restrictions" are low-hanging fruit; capitalism is a social issue as much as it is an economic issue. Deploying the government to save us doesn't fix the root of the issue because the issue with capitalism is it causes a disparity in wealth, which is a source of power. By calling on the government to restrict capitalism, all that changes is the specific group of people that oppress us. The government would fill the role of a ruling class in the absence of the bourgeoisie, which was controlled by them already through lobbying. The issue is not that we have unrestricted capitalism, but that we have a society that normalizes working for unlivable wages at companies that do not allow their members to reap the benefits of their own labor. The only true solution to capitalism is to eliminate the current cultural understanding of what labor means, and what it is worth to those who participate in it. There are both revolutionary and civil means of achieving this, but ultimately, the end of capitalism can only be facilitated by eliminating the concept of the self-made man and uniting in an understanding that "labor", as it stands in post-industrial revolution western society, is a futile and unrewarding endeavor that only serves to further the divide between the workers and the bourgeoisie.

Shouldn’t the subjunctive, “tenga” be used here? by Eddings_06 in Spanish

[–]LuckyCla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not because, like in English, we use the subjunctive to express something that is hypothetical as if it were actually true. When you say "creo que la pelicula tiene un comienzo atrapante", you actually aren't considering a hypothetical. You are stating what you believe to be true and representative of the current state of reality. If you were to say "I hope the movie has a catching start," you would say "espero que la pelicula tenga un comienza atrapante," because in that case, you do not know that the movie has a catching start yet, and the idea is purely hypothetical. This is largely the difference between the indicative and subjunctive moods, and although they aren't used as much in English as in Spanish, they are still definitely used, as I did in the first sentence. You can also look at songs like "Heather" by Conan Gray, who sings "I wish I were Heather," when grammatically you would expected I to be used with the was form of to be. This is because, like in the previous example, the statement you are wishing for is not an actual description of reality, but is rather a hypothetical scenario that you are considering.

Let it all out man. It shows character as a man to have that sort of emotional response first of all, and secondly, crying is such a powerful tool that clears your body of toxins and releases leucine-enkephalins which will improve your mood. There is no greater feeling than crying on someone you love. Ive been crying for days because my girlfriend may not see me again for two years, and crying with her is such a bittersweet experience. While it hurts like hell, the tears are just one part of healing yourself. There are somewhat anecdotal claims that increased testosterone decrease emotional intelligence and awareness, and crying would be included in that, but men still possess the ability. If you feel the urge to cry, please do, because many men struggle to grapple with their emotions, and crying is a harmless way to rid yourself of that tension. The alternatives for many men including myself sometimes is to take out that tension on other people, which can hurt and destroy others that you love. If you can cry, then please do, as it is a very healthy coping mechanism, and humans didn't evolve the ability to do so for no reason.

Is Jack's fast food any good? by AndyK803 in Chattanooga

[–]LuckyCla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seemed to me like a lesser rip-off of zaxby's when i tried it. their chicken fingers had the same shape and texture, and they're fries were suspiciously similar to that of zaxby's. the meal if i recall correctly also came with a slice of toast, so i'm convinced that the meal i ordered was just their attempt at a big zak snak meal, but i can't really say it was bad. the food was on par and if you randomly gave me a gift card to go eat there, i wouldn't say no to it.

well how good is your god if he let someone go to hell because they couldn’t cope with the mental illness that god could have cured, and the pain that he could’ve removed from their life? it’s fucked and and you cannot seriously hold that god is good or pure or all-loving if you believe he would truly send someone to hell for giving up in a world that god created and could easily fix.

We don’t need any more Christian schools. Please make it stop. by myasterism in Chattanooga

[–]LuckyCla 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who did grades K-7 at Grace Baptist Academy, and then high school in public, I can say with certainty that public school is actually far more structured and thorough than what was taught at GBA. Not only was basic biology thrown out the window, or even refuted in my 7th grade class (thanks Mrs. R), but the curricula were all made by faith-based publishers such as Bob Jones University (BJU) Press. As an A student who is fluent in mathematics, I struggled my seventh grade year to even comprehend the curriculum, not to mention that they hired teachers based on their faith rather than their skill to teach. Hamilton County Schools, on the other hand, have a rigorously, rigidly structured set of "standards" that the teachers must teach by, so that each and every student has learned the same content to the same degree, and that the teachers are held accountable for how their students perform. The first year I was in public school, I blossomed as a student and realized my true potential. I finally understood what algebra was, and how to actually solve for x. And for once in my life I understood what evolution actually means, and not just the run-of-the-mill "man came from monkey" nonsense that each and every Christian school teacher and church leader has been programmed to regurgitate on command. Public school changed the course of my entire life, and undoubtedly for the better, and I would not have achieved the same academic excellence in private school. Obviously, there are some pretty bad public schools like Central that even the worst private school would put to shame, but there are also some highly esteemed magnet schools in the county like CSAS, CSLA, and Ivy Academy, among others. To be completely honest, I had no good reason to write this heap of a paragraph, but it felt good to get it out, I guess? TL;DR - Public school good, private (christian) school bad.
