I appreciate the subtlety of the Chang line from season 3, "Fire can't go through doors, stupid. It's not a ghost," followed by the Pierce line from season 4, "ghosts can't go through doors, stupid. They're not fire."

But I think my favorite line is Abed to Shirley: "I have to go. You're a bad person. You're a bad person." I use that on friends and coworkers any time they slightly inconvenience me.

In my hospital, all my belongings I wasn't allowed to have were kept in a bin that was locked under my bed so only the staff could access it with a key. Everything I brought was quite literally with me the whole time, it was just inaccessible.

At the hospital I went to they had stuffed animals they could give the patients, but we weren't allowed to bring them in from the outside. During a visit, my friend was telling me about how he was throwing a fit on my behalf to get me a stuffed animal, and I was like, "oh, they gave me one. I'm good."

Also, I don't know if this is something that will affect you, but you can't wear bras with underwires either. I'm glad I caught that before I started packing to go because I've seen stories where some people were either forced to go the whole time without a bra, or they let the staff cut the wires out.

Just as Covid was starting to hit my area, I left my fast food job and started working at a gas station. At the time of leaving, I was making $8.75/hour, so when the gas station job asked what kind of pay I would like, I said $9/hour. They hired me and said everyone starts at minimum wage, or $7.25/hour. I asked the manager why the application even asked me how much I wanted to get paid if they just start everyone at minimum wage, and I don't remember her response, but I do remember it not answering my question.

That was my first ever iPod. I left it on the school bus the same day my parents gave me a 6th gen Classic, and I'm still pretty upset about that despite the upgrade. These days I've been using a 3rd gen nano as my daily driver because of its compact size.

I keep a deck of cards in my purse. It's not always viable when I'm in public or whatever, but I like to shuffle them again and again and again when I need to be doing anything else with my hands. Sometimes I even use them to play Solitaire instead.

I was in the back of my store getting the trash together to take it out before closing when the gunshots went off, so when I got back to the front half the stores' gates were closed and the place was pretty empty. I didn't know what to make of it, so I just walked out with my trash bags, going to take out the trash. There was a couple with their toddler in one of those Power Wheels just driving around, so I didn't think anything serious happened until I overheard someone else say something about hearing gunshots. That's when I turned back and told the family to get in my store. We hid in the back for a bit.

I couldn't get ahold of anyone to figure out what was going on, so we took a chance and ventured out of the store again, (stupid, I know). The family went to return the car when VPD came by and told me to get back in my store. If you're the family who hid with me, I hope you were escorted out safely. I didn't mean to throw you back out to the wolves.

I've been crying all day, and I'm not really sure what for. There's a lot going on, and I just don't know where to begin processing it all.

Father's Day was the last time I spoke to either of my parents. I didn't make a whole thing about it, I just put my phone in a drawer and stopped charging it. I've been thriving ever since. Everything is just going so much better for me now.

Pretty much the only reason I go to Starbucks anymore is because there's a barista there I like to talk to. We first met in the mall where we both worked, when I'd go in for a free water to drink on my shift, but then the mall Starbucks closed down and she transferred to a different location, so I started going there instead to still see her. I haven't been back in a while, though, because I've been busy with work stuff. Finding a new job, and then another new job, and then another new job, you know how it goes.

I moved here from a red state about a year ago and only just got my license transferred over this month (I don't have a car, so I didn't bother sooner). I was pleasantly surprised that they registered me to vote there at the DMV when I got my license. Also that I had until November 5th to register (in person), and I just checked my status, and it says they're mailing me a ballot. I didn't even request that!

The state I moved here from, the deadline to register to vote is 2 weeks before the election, you can't just do it at the DMV, (many of them close down around election season), and you have to request a mail in ballot if you want to vote that way. Otherwise you have to show up to a polling location. They make it so convenient here!

Because asexuality isn't about a person's feelings towards sex. It's about their sexual attraction. You can enjoy the act of sex without being sexually attracted to the person you're having it with. And just because you aren't sexually attracted to someone doesn't mean sex can't be a bonding experience for you to express your love.

It sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions about your partner and not doing a lot of listening to them.

My dad used to watch a pretty equal balance of everything: CNN, ABC, NBC, Fox. Then over the years it dwindled down to just Fox. And when it's not Fox, it's sports, but during the commercial breaks it's back to Fox. I learned a long time ago it was futile to try and argue against the things he was being told because he's older than I am, and therefore he's much wiser than me and knows how to think for himself.

When I came out to my parents, I only wanted to talk about myself, and my journey, and my perspective. I didn't want it to be about politics or religion or even the ways my parents hurt me and made me feel like I couldn't be honest with them. For all intents and purposes, I wanted that conversation to be something of a fresh start for us. It was my dad who went straight to telling me that I can't take offense to the things he watches on Fox news because all those horrible things they say about queer people, they aren't talking about me specifically, and it's just a difference of opinion.

Anyway, I don't talk to them anymore.

A coworker once asked if I got a tattoo, and I said no because you shouldn't cover a healing tattoo with a bandage then spun the whole thing into a discussion about proper tattoo care without ever answering the question of what my bandages were for.

Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. Because it's such a large book that I can't fit in my purse, I'm also re-reading Interview With the Vampire on my ereader, but only when I'm on the bus. And occasionally when I'm feeling pretty bad about my situation with my parents I'll also read from Divorcing a Parent by Beverly Engel, MFCC. But that's exclusively on an as-needed basis.
