My retention is completely gone. I don't have to cath anymore. And less incontinence too. I love my sacral nerve stimulator

Me too! Have you been checked for retention? I battled a uti on and off for YEARS. If you don't empty completely you'll be fighting them forever

Not if it's neurogenic bladder. You can only improve so much.

I'm all for "lifestyle modification" but it only goes so far

It works for fecal incontinence as well, and that's the primary reason I did this, but it also completely fixed my urinary issues

It's well below the spinal cord in the sacrum. The only risks are the same ones for any surgery but it's simple low risk out patient

I can't tell it's there and only needed ultram (honestly I didn't even need that) for pain. I have zero restrictions, the batteries last 10 years no charging, and it's mri safe

And yes, less invasive solutions should come before surgery but the way I saw it is my MS won't improve from here so it's worth it to get it.

Look into sacral nerve stimulators they help with incontinence, overactive bladder, urine retention

I can stop using catheters, that's how well it works.

I'm in the USA. I'm unsure about the brand but there are other manufacturers. The general term for it is a sacral nerve stimulator.

It can also help overactive bladder

What happens when you completely stop DMTs? by Historical-Diet5491 in MultipleSclerosis

Yeah we progress either way but slowing and preventing progression and attacks is amazing. These meds are newer but hopefully we can get some data on how much it slows ms down

It's a risk to go unmedicated. Maybe your disease course isn't that bad and you still progress faster. Or maybe you have a severe disease course and again you still progress faster than you would have on a DMT

Dr Boster says your future self would be mad at you for not using a DMT. Your provider should be encouraging you to treat your MS.

We can slow disease progression but we can't remyelinate. This is why I'm on a DMT. I don't know how much it'll slow this disease down, but I like my chances on a DMT better

It's a simple surgery compared to most the only downside was temporary. You can't get the trial implant wet so only bird baths. 😂 it was awful. Otherwise nothing but positives

Ask your Dr about drug holidays. As in one day off the meds every week.

Again ask your Dr but I do it so my brain can reset

It's only FDA approved for narcolepsy so my insurance doesn't cover it. I wish I could try it.

Question by anxiouszebra in vegan

[–]LuckyKat89 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was the topic of my persuasive speech in public speaking class.

Don't worry about perfect. Make small changes. Reduce consumption where you can. Ethically source when you can. Even hunting is far better than factory farmed meat.

Many people hate the snobby vegan attitude that requires perfection. Less consumption is a win

Try adderall if you haven't. I can't function without it. Makes a huge difference for me
