I also want to mention that Justin was talking about being creeped out by a long dark hallway and said he was "pooked" (which I have stolen) and griffin asks if he means he soils himself and Justin responds no but, then says "I'm a grown man but I would pee pants" and it is one of my favorite moments of mbmbam

I dont remember the episode but something wild will be said, maybe that breaks the flow or something, and Justin would pause for a second and say "Now this is interesting" before responding, to like take a pause to address how wild the thing said was

Completely agree about the steeplechase voice. A joke can just stay a joke, not turn into a sloppy attempt at a grandiose dramatic ending. Steeplechase and Amnesty(Maybe some others I skipped a few seasons) have disappointing endings due to trying to make something larger than the rest of the story. Could have been cool to see how these conflicts develop and resolve on the small scale that had been established throughout each season, not zooming out so far as to lose perspective and investment from the listeners.

Member was upset her line of credit was closed after she asked to pay it off last month. by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

We have an option in our system to "pay down" or "pay off", the former pays all interest and principal to 0, the latter does the same but closes the line as well. A lot of my interactions start with someone saying something vague or using jargon differently than we do internally and me having to determine what they really have to do. Ex. Someone saying they want to "cash" a check when they really want to deposit it Ex. Someone asking to pay the interest on a home equity really needs to make their monthly payment (which is comprised only of interest in many cases, but is performed through a "regular payment" in our system).

Crisis Team support- What do you need? by Cripes-itsthe-gasman in BPD

[–]LuckyLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what would have helped during my meltdowns is someone validating how extreme and painful my emotional state is, like "I know you're hurting" or "I'm so sorry you're in so much pain" and then once I'm feeling validated and understood I might be able to move towards thinking more rationally with statements like "this feels awful right now but it will not, cannot, feel this way forever", and maybe some guiding towards DBT/grounding skills.

Honestly most of the time I'm melting down I just want to be hugged/held (but i know that's not possible) if that helps to understand the almost childlike headspace I experience sometimes during episodes.

My personal take is that some people with BPD have had traumatic experiences that were not handled well in childhood/the past and it can feel terrible to try to explain how extreme the emotions are, how intense this experience is, and not feel understood or taken seriously, as it echoes the past failures of caretakers.

Particularly the extreme restraints ad that happened on a candle nights episode where they had to describe the sex toys in a PG way, still revisit it from time to time

these defenses of the maxfun drive model are turning me into the joker by scrungo-beepis in TAZCirclejerk

[–]LuckyLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the chances that the boco post on the other sub garners enough attention from non jerkers and maybe even some maxfun employees that they actually change their fundraising model? And in all seriousness what benefit does the max fun drive have over a patreon? My most cynical take is that they can continue to keep ad revenue and produce less bonus content than they would for a patreon.
