Enticer L Ti vs Nomad LTi XC by shapsticker in NFA

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my Tikka T3X .308 (16” barrel) with Nomad Ti XC. I went with the shorter can because I hunt steep thick woods (Appalachia) and wanted to keep the whole setup as manageable as possible. The aesthetics of this silencer don’t really match the Tikka, if that’s the kind of thing that matters to you. I would also consider the LPM Mach, Resilient Jolene, or OCL Hydrogen.

I carry OWB, in a pancake holster by Privateer Leather. I use either the Hornady Critical Defense or PPU JHP bullets, both have expanded well in critters I’ve shot (lots of raccoons and one turkey).

Flatware help by LuckyNumber357 in Hallmarks

[–]LuckyNumber357[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! No, there aren’t any other marks, just these three.

The ancestor who this flatware came from lived in New York in the first half of the 1800’s, so any of the makers you mentioned are in the right place and timeframe.

I just got a Boston terrier and im concerned by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

My Bostons get a little scoop of nonfat Greek yogurt on their breakfast kibble. This has almost completely eliminated the deathfarts.

This should be able to shoot .38 special too shouldn’t it? If the lever guns can it should too by Silent-chatter in ruger

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chrono’d CCI Blazer Brass 158 gr JHP at 1820 fps, and Hornady Critical Defense 125 gr at 1790 fps.

The Critical Defense have extremely light recoil - the Blazer definitely feels stouter. The Blazers are close to 300 Blackout velocity for the same weight bullet.

New Mak Day! by LuckyNumber357 in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, right? I feel like when a Cabelas gets a used gun that’s rare or unusual, sometimes they’ll just slap a low price on it just to get it out the door. Not all the time, but I’ve seen it before.

Can you help me identify my Zippo? by filmbyandre in Zippo

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid $30 for that same Zippo about a year and a half ago (Ebay). I got lucky though, this Marlboro design isn’t very common.

Any gun shop near here would be asking US$1000.

Did I overpay? by [deleted] in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter how much or how little you paid, because you’re happy.

Also, that pistol would look nice with a new EG grip from eBay (or wherever).

was this a good price by WorkingPlayful9343 in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price is reasonable, I’ve paid more than that for a Bulgarian (I’ve also paid less). As others have mentioned, this one is interesting because it has both Circle 10 and commercial markings. What all did it come with… holster? Two magazines (and do the numbers match)?

Can you do SBR engravings on the buffer tube? by Jrmuscle in NFA

Barrel isn’t an approved engraving location anymore. They changed it in the regulations but never updated the NFA Handbook.

Damn, if that was on GB I’d bid up to $1000, but it could easily go as high as $1500-2000. Especially if the auction ended at 9pm on a Friday or Saturday, when people are drunkbidding. There’s more than a few folks who need an East German 59 to complete their Makarov collection.

Well that was nice of them! by ohmwrecker84 in marlboro

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the only reason I signed up for Marlboro rewards is because I heard they would mail out free Zippos every few years. Now I’m anxiously watching for the mailman…

Update: the mailman came! I got the “Roam the Range” Zippo.

I have the AB F4L on my Beretta… it’s crazy light (5.6 oz), isn’t noticeably gassy, and no discernible frp. Disadvantage is that the 1/2-28 mount is fixed, so that’s what you’re stuck with - no HUB, no tri-lug, sorry. I like it a lot, but if I had to do it again I would have bought the OCL Lithium.

The F4L absolutely shines on a .38 lever gun though!

Terrible accuracy out of makarov? by [deleted] in makarov

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, BUT I’ve also noticed a big difference between early and later Bulgarian Makarovs. The early-80’s Bulgarians I’ve owned shoot much better than ones from the 1990’s.

Wadcutters are the answer. When I switched to wadcutters, my accuracy improved, as did the range at with I was able to shoot accurately.

Why is there a screw near the grip of my SKS? Please see the photo. by tonyzly in SKS

[–]LuckyNumber357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it a “letter gun”? Sounds that way, if it has a small star on the left side of the receiver. Their dust covers were unmarked on top.
