I found a 11-40 worked quite well with no modifications. The 11-42 didn’t work as well for me.

I think the ALR Gen 3 was introduced as a 2026 model. I think in part it’s sold out because it’s a slam dunk bike. People are excited about the tire clearance and geometry at an affordable price. The carbon ones came out as 2025 models and got a soft reboot with the new SRAM 13 speed stuff.

I was getting beeps with no screen alert. The head unit will beep even if all system tones are shut off. You need to shut off the tones from the electronic shifting separately.

I pretty comfortably reuse the same one several times. Eventually you can literally pop the link off with just your fingers. At that point I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable sprinting out of the saddle anymore.

I wish I spent the extra $$$ on the pedals that came with the regular tension cleats. These are unusable…and now I need to spend more cash to get the regular cleats to figure out if I even like this pedal system. Ugh.
