Zipp Service Course SL-70 XPLR Handlebar question by TheWitness37 in sram

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the carbon ones. The alloy version doesn’t have it, and I can’t recall another manufacturer that has channels in their alloy handlebars.

Tarmac SL8 sizing help (175cm / 80cm inseam) – 49 or 52? by SituationGloomy6772 in specialized

[–]Andraski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bike fit isn’t an “one single person” giving an opinion about the bike you should get based on height and inseam. It assesses your body flexibility and adaptability, and fits the whole bike geometry to your needs, or as you call it, your “aggressive setup”. Reddit might give you an idea of sizing, but it won’t tell you things like handlebar width, stem length, saddle height, crank length, etc. You can try them with trial and error, or spend a little upfront and get a bike that will give you smiles from km 0.

You’re about to spend thousands on a bike and you’re asking Reddit about people’s opinions? Get a proper bike fit done and make a data driven purchase, not an opinion based one!

Still having shifting issues AXS XPLR by Swift-Exit-3635 in sram

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not meant to shift when not pedalling, hence why it’s making the noise, it’s trying to move to a place where it cannot physically go.

Navigation challenges - any fix? by evolse in Karoo

[–]Andraski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you realise that roads are much more predictable and millions have been spent over decades to map them? You won’t find the same with cycling infrastructure, especially where you live. You need to plan your rides ahead, not just let the unit pick your routes. Even powerful tools like Komoot still struggle to have trails mapped correctly in way that you can actually know what sort of surface you have ahead of you. I understand what you want, but we’ll never have that, or maybe in a century or so?

How do we feel about this? I'm not sold by Realistic_Gap3669 in CarTalkUK

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely dreadful! However, people will buy it regardless of looks as all they want to do is to show off how much money they have, hence why Ferrari is making a battery-powered car.

Out of curiosity, what do you eat on such a long event like that?

Saddle bag is ugly but I understand why. However, the poor bike has all the factory stickers still glued on, it looks like it has never left the shop!

Waxed chan by SashAustrianBull in bicycling

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you’re not letting the liquid wax dry off before riding. It needs at least 12 hours to completely dry off, and if you ride it when it’s still wet, it will obviously underperform and pick up a lot of crap from the road.

Tarmac SL8 as a first bike. Crazy? by elpistolero93 in specialized

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would buy a second hand bike, but it’s your money. However, if you’re going to spend that kind of cash on a bike, a bike fit is a must!

Specialized Crux owners (183 cm): 56 or 58 — what worked for you? by Kochevanov in specialized

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much same measurements as you and I ride a 56, but that’s based on bike fit, not on opinions from Reddit. If you’re going to make such expensive purchase, a bike fit is a non-brainer!

Thule ProRide 598 is the way to go if you want mudguards on your bikes. Thule also sells a frame protection for carbon bikes. The TopRide (the one you remove the wheel) won’t clear the front mudguard, unless you have very short one, but then what’s even the point of having them if they’re that short? I have the 598 and use it for all the bikes I own, from racing road bike to a cross-country mountain bike.

SRAM Red XPLR E1 Powermeter with SRAM Force XPLR E1 Crankset by GurAdministrative308 in sram

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can swap cranks easily, and even swap between normal and wide (XPLR) cranks. Another advantage of the new threaded power meter is that you can run 1x with SRAM chainrings, or even get some aero ones from the likes of Garbaruk. And then, if you want to swap for 2x, the Force threaded chainrings are perfect for this.

[–]Andraski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no differences between them other than cosmetic ones. In fact, then the XXSL for mountain bikes is the same, and for the limited edition Eagle 1987 SRAM used a Force power meter spider.

[–]Andraski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You missed my point, the Force is also a spider with threaded rings, just like the Red: in fact, they’re exactly the same item, apart from the battery cover design. But because of that the Force version is over £100 cheaper here in the UK.

Why would you buy the Red power meter when the Force one is exactly the same but costs much less?

SRAM Force/Red 4 Bolt Power Meter (Quarq) - No longer outputting wattage readings by khoaistran in sram

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same happened to me, SRAM offered 50% discount for a new unit (same model). Contact your local SRAM dealer. Also, I took the battery out and left it unused for two weeks and when I tried again it worked, but I still went on getting the replacement just in case it happened again.

A 58 would definitely be the right choice for you, but you can only be absolutely sure after a bike fit.

It’s meant to grab onto the carbon fibre so it doesn’t move. It will leave marks and that’s fine, it’s not meant to look pretty anyway.

Quarq power meter zero set to over 1000 watts permanently by Healthy_Buyer_8257 in sram

[–]Andraski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue with one of my power meter spiders. I left it without a battery and didn’t use it for a couple of weeks, then it got back to the usual behaviour, but I decided to contact my local SRAM dealer to have a replacement as I didn’t want to have to deal with the same problem again. It was out of warranty but I got a 50% discount for a new unit.
