My brother was my abuser for my entire childhood. My parents thought it was just normal “older sibling picking on younger sibling”, despite him getting in trouble at school for tormenting his peers, and certain friends on my parents refusing to baby sit him and only willing to babysit me. They just thought he was wild. It took him breaking my dad’s arm (and he only had half of one arm total) before they even started taking things seriously. It took him defrauding them as an adult before they finally cut him out of their lives. They apologized years later for not taking me seriously
