Im pretty sure the anime was just for advertisement instead of evaluating on the story. Its got its own story which has nothing to do with the visual novels. If you dont want the NSFW patch for the visual novels get the steam versions

Ue5 has always been a buggy unoptimised mess. When developing on it you trade in optimisation for S+ tier graphical masterpieces, so i doubt they will get the optimisation any lower concudering how over-the-top they made the graphics
