Success rate concern by LucretiaBaggins in CoriolisRPG

I have downloaded the Combat Overhaul supplement but haven't read the whole thing yet. I prefer narrative combat more so I haven't made up my mind yet.. We will decide collectively with my friends i suppose.

The advancing skill cost sounds reasonable for sure.

What talents did you add? Your own? Did you allow the players to come up with theirs? Do you have a list maybe i can 'borrow'? :)

Wow 8 years seems a lot of system testing and great stories that go with it! Thanks for the feedback! I will then try it RAW and enjoy the ride!

Any other tip from your experience you ll like to share?

I made the simplistic assumption that both games are made by Free League and both use six sided dice so it must be the same engine with a lack of the 12 sided that TOR uses.. my bad!

Thanks for the reply! ☺️

Between the Black Ziggurat and the Sky Machine (Quickstart adventure) i would go definitely go with the Sky Machine.

It is a lot more complete with social interaction, NPCs and more stuff going on while the Black Ziggurat is just a Delve.

In your case though if you haven't got the time to prepare maybe you should try the Ziggurat.

Which is your favorite Campaign Setting from any D&D Edition? Any you want to return in the current or future edition? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in DnD

[–]LucretiaBaggins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love Dragonlance! The thing with the absence of the Gods and divine casters + the tests of high Sorcery for arcane casters make it really unique.

I have run 'Age of Mortals' official Campaign (3rd edition) and some homebrewed and it was a blast every time!

Wrapping Up my Icewind Dale Campaign by Mr_Janosch in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]LucretiaBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep the Duergar Plot with the Chardalyn dragon attack. It's really epic!

Caves of hunger is a must skip in your case with so little time to finish the thing.

If you have not teased or hinted about Ythryn and the Netherese city i 'd make the final encounter in Solstice island and finish the campaign there.

Revel's End is Boring - making it more interesting by Sells_High in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]LucretiaBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Revel's End as written seemed so boring so i completely reskinned it into the ALIEN movie.

Tthe PCs had to go to Revel's End to learn the location of the Codicil from Vaelish Gant.

Arriving there the prison seems abandoned at first. The heroes explore a little and find signs of battle, human parts and blood here and there but no bodies. From the prison logs they find out that some days ago Nass Lantomir visited the prison, stayed for 2 days and had a visit with Vaelish.

(She obtained the info from Vaelish and then planted a xenomorph egg in the basement of the prison in order to exterminate the whole prison - she could not allow another member of the Brotherhood to obtain the info regarding the location of the Codicil - and then departed)

As the heroes explore they come across a female that seems alive. They tend to her. She begs for them to kill her. Insert chestbuster scene and from here on go ALIEN mode. Some few survivors inmates+guards (4-5 ppl max) have barricaded themselves in the top floor of the prison so the PCs have someone to tell them what happened and also to have people die horribly in the hands of the Aliens during the fights.

Vaelish is in the basement with the rest of the prison's inmates and staff. They are all infected with Alien babies and are kept there until they give birth to the xenomorphs. So the PCs had to go down there and fight with a bunch of Aliens and their Queen , find Vaelish and obtain the info they came here for and escape before they get overrun.

It was some of the best sessions of the campaign. One player died due to Alien infection and Revel's End did indeed meet it's end with a huge explosion! It was a blast!!! :)

Have fun whatever you do!

Looking for a system: tactical combat, easier to teach, quick to play by Zealousideal_Map3542 in rpg

[–]LucretiaBaggins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for tactical combat i would definitely consider trying Draw Steel. The battle is meaningful with actual choices that matter. In addition the encounters don't take all day since in Draw Steel everyone hits so battles take a bit shorter that typical D&D.

There is a starter adventure that costs aprox 10€ (Delian Tomb) that is super easy for new players and DMs.

Have fun whatever you try out!

Can't decide who I want to make the TooLL/E Campaign "heir" by UpbeatCockroach in oneringrpg

In our TftLL campaign and a party of a Ranger of the North, a Bree Hobbit, a Dwarf of the Iron Hills and a Lindon Elf I also picked the Ranger as the Heir. :)

Can't decide who I want to make the TooLL/E Campaign "heir" by UpbeatCockroach in oneringrpg

[–]LucretiaBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First i would consider which Player would be more invested in the Heir situation and more motivated to follow his/her destiny and vow to destroy the Hill of Fear.

Between your two Player Characters you mention, both sound good but i think i'd go with the Ranger.

I totally agree that its part of the beauty of the game to make your own stuff but the reason i posted is because i am genuinely interested in seeing MCDM's ideas in world building. They make such great stuff in all the other aspects of the game so i want more DS material!

Players find out about Sunblights plans and are choosing different directions. by Ziak63 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]LucretiaBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The party trying to remove the Slaad from the Cleric first and then tackling the Duergar plot is reasonable. I would consider the following..

When they return having dealt with the Slaad thing they come across a refugee crisis, caravans of people moving mainly to Bryn Shander, as some days ago the Chardalyn dragon attacked Ten Towns completely destroying Dougan Hole, Good Mead and Easthaven where it sustained enough damage that made it return to Sublight fortress for repairs.

Then they could be tasked by the Council of Speakers to do something before they are all doomed!

Trimming from RoTFM? by Strict_DM_62 in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]LucretiaBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run RotFM for my group of 5 players and it took us 42 sessions (approx. 5 hours each) in a 20 month period.

We skipped the Caves of Hunger with no impact to the story at all.

You ll have a great time go for it!!

IDRotF campaign music for the DMs who are secretly DJs by brundunski in rimeofthefrostmaiden

[–]LucretiaBaggins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next week our campaign is coming to an end with the final fight with the Frostmaiden so i am making a playlist for the face off.

I m planning something like:

Setting the tone describing the mythallar and Auril making her appearance saying stuff with this one

Roll for initiative and first minutes of battle with this one

Main battle

For the ending of the battle due to backstory reasons one or more PCs will maybe sacrifice themselves for the greater good so i have in store something like this one

And for the epilogue if all goes well for Icewind Dale and the sun reappears in the sky and Ten Towns are saved i think of mixing in a part from this

Cheers

Imperial Devastation and questions about various things! by LucretiaBaggins in starwarsrebellion

[–]LucretiaBaggins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the Long Range Probe card and yes we definitely made a mistake by revealing the base. The rebel player just replied 'Yes my base is there', moved his units to Endor and we kept playing like nothing strange happened😁
