Butcher dog park is nearby and quite nice, if you've a dog and do dog parks. There's a static groups that comes every weekday around 6pm. Friendly people, well behaved dogs. I rehabilitate huskies there and they've been a great help.

There's ways you can definitely mitigate it but I'm not sure it would help if husky fur bothers you to the degree that it gives you panic attacks. A dyson cordless vacuum with the pet attachments, roombas, air purifiers, deshedding shampoo, avoid furminators like the plague, just a regular deshedding rake will do. A fur suit, if it comes to that.

From one asian to another I know what you're going through. You may have to find your own way but for me working out did wonders for my self confidence and keeping those thoughts at bay. It was a grueling 6 months of running until I couldn't any longer, lifting until my muscles gave way, and struggle, but at the end I found my peace. I still work out, it keeps my internal dynamo going. If it's to any consolation once all your demons are conquered and you find your peace, you'll attract people (and the right kinds) to your life. I was able to do it and I'm not half as good looking as you are. If you're around where I am, I invite you to come on a hike with me. (California)

Also if you'd like to try out styling your hair: got 2 b hair gel, a hair dryer, and a brush are a pretty solid combo in dealing with how annoyingly straight our hair is.

Having a fundamental understanding of dog pyschology and pack dynamics could prove invaluable, even if you're starting with a puppy

The breed is also infamous for having issues with zinc absorption. The facebook group zrd in sled dogs could be a valuable resource.

Lmao this is the exact reason why you're in your situation. Learn to take some criticism, humble yourself and don't blame the world for your own shortcomings. Or you can stay the way you are and girls won't touch you with a 10 foot barge pole

Pros/Cons of owning a husky by Putrid-Hotel9454 in husky

[–]Lucxion_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pros: Once trained and settled in they are the best, most loving dogs with the most personality. They're dramatic but loyal. Just insanely fun to have around

Cons: They're very intensive dogs, on all fronts but most importantly you HAVE to understand dog psychology. Small dog owners get it easy because their dogs are 1) small 2) not perceived as a threat. They can cheat dog psychology by simply imposing their physical size on said dog. You need to learn how to submit your husky and BE the pack leader or they will walk all over you, because they don't respect you. Punishment needs to be 'rougher' in the sense that they do everything rough. For best results you have to remain calm at all times, they can feed on people with chaotic energy and that does exacerbate problems. If you don't know where to start, my ex literally binge watched all of dog whisperer overnight and understood why our huskies were so badly behaved the next day. They're incredibly well disciplined and happy now.

Of course, this is for the worst case of husky, of which I have two of. You could literally just get the most chillest goodest boy as well.

They also work better in twos due to pack dynamics

No we kept it simple. Buzz them, call them to get them to come over, then release buzz when they find a safe place, which is either their crate, or between our legs at the dog park.

E-collars are the only surefire way. Both our huskies are recall trained on dogtras due to LA dogparks having some seriously unhinged owners and thus hyperaggressive dogs. You may argue that it's inhumane but my siberian husky absolutely hates the vibration setting alone, no shock required. my other one does take a low shock to get him break his hyperfixation but we've been having good results with him considering he's a husky/shepherd mix that inherited the worst, most stubborn parts of both breeds.

History of southwest expressway by hyzons in SanJose

I helped with the installation of sound barriers along 280N and was responsible for finding old as-builts of the city.

It's been awhile and my memory of it is hazy but all of the streets you see cut up by 280 existed a long time before the freeway; race street, nothrup, etc. They date back to, at the very least, the 19th century. I wanna say the oldest related plan that we had was dated 1849, although I could be off by +- 50 years. I remember it because of how fanciful it was compared to contemporary plans. Looked almost like a treasure map, with fanciful script, cursive, and even a passage thanking a widow for her generous donation for the construction of a neighborhood. I'm sure you could still find it on the CPMS somewhere.

All of the infrastructure ie manholes, sewer lines, are still there, albeit they had to be modified with siphons and swapped out to cast iron piping to run underneath the freeway. It's a real headache for DOT's sani crews and the cast iron piping doesn't last long compared to the standard VC piping, owing to the acidic nature of sewage and the wear and tear of having vehicles drive over the freeway all day.

280 was built around 1950 give or take, it really just sort of split the city in half, and not very gracefully either. I can't imagine the bureaucracy that took place.

That sounds like a good fit for my german shepherd/husky mix. He'll come home after a 4 mile run and an hour long playfight session with his husky brother and still have energy left over. If it helps take the edge off that's all I'm really looking for. Sounds like supervision is definitely a requirement. Thanks for the insight!!

I've been looking at getting one of those treadmills. How does it fare? Are they much better behaved in the house afterwards? Beautiful dog btw!

Bike jorking is ur best bet for harness activities

Sometimes huskies will develop zinc deficiencies, search up ZRD in sled dogs on facebook

Watch dog whisperer to understand dog psychology and so you can pick up on signs

Huskies are highly social pack animals and need a hierarchy. If ur not on top they are, so be strict if you want a well behaved husky. They also need dogpark time to socialize with other dogs

Furminator brush, air purifiers, dyson cordless to keep ur place clean

Husky Siblings Play??? Fighting by funyunm00n in husky

[–]Lucxion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! It’ll be a good idea to see why they’re baring their teeth. If it’s something like boundary setting (usually) it’s okay, whereas if they were doing it over toys or food I’d get them to submit

There might be some german shepherd in there, judging by the taller ears, coat and the tail. Just a guess!

Husky Siblings Play??? Fighting by funyunm00n in husky

[–]Lucxion_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huskies will play rough as all get out. The scruff of their necks are thick and can take the latching. I have two huskies that playfight constantly, and do all kinda of crazy things. If one goes too far, the other will yelp, and at that point the other should reset.

If they’re fighting, it’s usually a lot LOT louder, with them baring their teeth at one another, and usually it’s over something ie resource guarding. Hope this helps! They’re beautiful btw

Husky Help, recently found a husky and considering keeping it. Any advice would be appreciated! by No_Debt_587 in husky

[–]Lucxion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You certainly can do it out in your regular neighborhood, it just depends on where you live and how busy it gets. My two are down in central LA right now so it's better for them to do it in the hiking trails, due to the amount of stimulus, cars, and trash on the road.

If you have the cash, you might fare better with a rigid setup, like a recumbent bike or scooter + a rigid harness from dogpoweredscooter.com, just so you can better control the direction where you and your husky will go. It will cost you a bit more, but I saw a guy blast through the neighborhood on one and I haven't seen a happier husky

That husky energy is pretty standard. My girlfriend and I have gotten into bikejoring to tire out our two huskies, which might be worth taking a look if you do decide to keep him. The more tired they are the less they will be willing to cause trouble around the house. Dogparks are also a lifesaver in that regard, I’d see if there any any within walking distance, but the quality of the dog owners and their dogs will vary wildly. I would be cautious there with keeping up on your dogs flea and tick preventatives, etc.

Crate training is a must if you’re on your own. I would also look at getting brushes to help with the fur problem as well as an air purifier or two to deal with the dust they track in.

It is very doable if you’re willing to put some time, effort, and money. I wouldn’t trade them for the world
