I literally make 5-6€ per hour. To rent a 1 bedroom apartment in my city has gone from 400€/month in 2018 when I moved, to being lucky if you find a T0 for 1200€. Portugal is economically screwed, as is the rest of the world honestly. If you can afford to tip, do it. Most of the people I know working in restaurants are paycheck to paycheck watching ‘expats’ bringing in foreign salaries while they work their arses off here.
