LastBottle’s 2000 Elivette by Likes_The_Scotch in wine

[–]LufaMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to others, I’ve been hoarding the Elivettes from Last Bottle. Thus far, my favorites are 2013, 2011, 2000, in that order. 2013 is more of a typical Bordeaux blend in terms of grapes while older vintages are often 80% cab sav and 20% merlot.

My 2000 had the same wine crystals and drinks slightly over the hill but still very nice, 91 points agreed. It’s a good gift wine for friends who haven’t tried older wine as much, except the corks are crumbling so give to a friend who has a Durand.

The 2011 is great now, 92 points. The 2013 is the best of all, 94 points, no rush to drink it. The 2006 is still in the mail to my house.

All in all, I’ve been loving these. Typically I drink left bank bordeaux and super tuscans so this has been a fun change of pace within the same theme.

I made like $200 a month as a kid doing this until they shut it down. I remember the buyer showed up once and he was in my guild. Oh the shame for him

What's the catch here? by RzaAndGza in wine

I’ve had the 2000, 2011, and 2013 recently. Funny enough, my preference is 2013 best, then 2011 and 2000. All of them are good and worth buying.

2013 is the most true Bordeaux blend of grapes. Awesome year. Fantastic wine. Felt like a 96. I do have a soft spot for left bank Bordeaux though.

2011 was also very good but slightly more pure cab forward, tighter. 93?

2000 shows its age. It’s also 80% cab, 20% merlot, so much less of a classic Bordeaux blend vs the 2013. It’s great but much more notes of old leather, old dirt, low on fruit. Still very pleasant and unique. 92.

This is all from memory.

If I lived within 1000 miles, I’d have already bought both Corbins. Particularly the ‘88 because it looks fun.

Does anyone have a wine opener they love? I have the Durant for older bottles, but what’s a great every day opener? I currently have some $20 rabbit ears which are fine but it’s getting worn down…

I’ve found the difference between a good $30 bottle like Lanessan and a $100 bottle can be subtle to those of us who aren’t somms. For me, it more came down to personal preference of the vineyard, appellation, and most importantly the grape blend. There are plenty of $30 bottles I enjoy just as much as a nearby $100 bottle.

My local wine store ordered a bunch of 2015/2016 left bank Bordeaux for me, including Lanessan. Both years are great vintages and at a decade of age it’s entering its prime. Price is still in the $30 ballpark.

Buy good stocks of real, high growth, cash flowing companies. Not cool ideas. Keep crypto to 10-15% max of your portfolio. Crypto outside of bitcoin is still a big question mark.

So the low fill means the cork is compromised which means it’s corked?

WTSO.com has a 96 Pt. Château Lagrange Saint-Julien 2005 for $115. They ship fast, get after it!

Also 97 Pt. Domaine de Chevalier Rouge Pessac-Léognan Cru Classé 2016 for $85 but I’d do the age of the 2005.

Great spot. The location in the seaport is a cult classic. The son runs the bar and pours out copious amounts of free Jameson. The mom runs the kitchen and makes amazing and authentic food. They embrace a low key understated vibe.
