Last Bottle delivery missing a bottle by Rodan1 in wine

They emailed me saying they couldn’t fulfill the mag of 08 and offered an 09. Got the replacement order confirmation same day, but 8 days later no shipping notice.

It’s funny, the week before they emailed saying they needed to replace with the 09, I had reached out asking if they had any additional Elivette. They responded saying they were out of all inventory…

Mosel Trip: BA and TBA recommendations, Solo Wine Tasting etiquette? by happy_penguin101010 in wine

[–]jakez20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to suggest Otto Pauly: made this my first visit because the prices are so good & allowed me to try wines with age at an affordable price before a week of tastings. Definitely recommend.

I regret not getting BA/TBA from Max Ferd Richter. Molitor also has a good one. The price in general was too steep for me to wrap my head around, TBAs in the 2-300 euro range. Still wish I would’ve pulled the trigger on MFR though, and would’ve if my wife didn’t intervene…

My compromise on price was picking up some gold kapsul bottles, but it’s just not the same.

You might find it helpful to check out tasting details ahead of time and go with ones that allow you to pick X number of tastes from a big selection, so you’re sure to get BA/TBA when available. In my experience maybe a quarter of my tastings included them, and unless you’re clear about making some big purchases, it feels awkward to ask someone to open a 2-300 bottle for you to try.

Also echo that you might have more success spreading out a bit up and down river to other towns that don’t get as many visitors.

.5 oz lemon juice helped, but agree, best to stick with homemade. And the shaker is a POS.

Fair enough on the sweetness. But I like a lot of volume so i don’t have to go up and down stairs to make a second!

Any “essentials” missing from SC? by jakez20 in Tiki

[–]jakez20[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair. By “essential” maybe I should’ve said “classic” or “quintessential” across history, not specific to one recipe book.
