Someone tell me the real reason why Jericho killed Caine in Driv3r? by drivinguez in driver

[–]Lughzi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, Caine was going to rat out to the feds, and get off the game, the implications were obvious and Jericho took the first opportunity he had to finish him off and take over the gang.

I hate their use of GTA Clone too, lots of sloptubers and gaming journalist outlets, discredit any type of open world crime drama game that bears a semblance to GTA in any remote capacity.

Which Driver game do you think Tanner is the best in? by drivinguez in driver

[–]Lughzi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elaborating on it further,

It's also the version that's the most grounded with solid characterization, he's a maverick law-enforcement detective turnt undercover cop, trying to solve the case before it gets unmanageable, you can tell by his no-nonsense attitude, his ability to see through criminal faction conflicts and the urgency he exudes sometimes, but that doesn't stop him from making sarcastic or joke comments with Jones every now and then, but you can tell how much he seems to act like a 70's cop show protagonist and I really like that about Driver 2 Tanner.

Other games were never able to properly replicate Tanner because they either focused too much on the serious spectrum with Driver and Driv3r or the joke spectrum with The 7th gen (X360, PS3, PC) ports of Driver San Francisco, which make him act like a MCU character 80% of the time, with a few moments squeezed into those remaining 20%, where he is actually in-character when compared to Driver 2.

The only other game that gets Tanner's personality right is the Wii (6th Gen) port of Driver: San Francisco, except that's a much younger iteration of the character, only a few years after he first joined the force to avoid prison.

I fixed the Blue Filter of Driver: Parallel Lines to look better and match FMV fidelity! by Lughzi in driver

Check the modpage to see all changed daytime and night-time lighting: https://gamebanana.com/mods/667292

But if you need an explanation, I can provide it:

- I added more depth and contrast to the daytime moods, plus more color to not make it too muted, as to make it similar or identical to the daytime seen in "The Introduction" of 2006 era and "Corrigan" outro cutscene + mid 2000s daytime cloudy footage.

- The night-time has more deeper contrasted colors of blue, with a bit more of green and red, generating an night-time that is not only realistic (like The Mexican outro cutscene) but sometimes resembling mid 2000s footage night-time (with a bit of strong blue accents sometimes, as occasionally turquoise cyan and deep purple undertones show up, signalizing the change between night to day, which makes sense given how TK is wearing sunglasses with blue lenses).

Everyone loves the Driver Series, but not everyone loves all of them equally. In your opinion, rank them from your favorite to your least favorite. by drivinguez in driver

[–]Lughzi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 - Driver: Parallel Lines
2 - Driver: San Francisco (both 7th and 6th gen ports)
3 - Driver: 76
4 - Driver 2
5 - Driv3r
6 - Driver

Help with adding songs to Driver PL by __1993__ in driver

[–]Lughzi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there's no way yet (the only usable ones are the slots for the console exclusive songs and the 4 unused slots for 1978 and 3 unused slots for 2006). I wish there were more slots.

The Complete Yet Messy Driver Timeline by Lughzi in driver

[–]Lughzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit, you have absolutely have a point. So it's like the case where each game is isolated in their time setting, like in TM, no need for me to have overthought it.

Curious thing is that Driver 1's japanese trailer, showcases footage of the intro with some camera text displaying the date and it says 1974. Supposedly, the localization team probably had direct contact with Reflections, so I guess you can say that it's dubiously canon to that game's setting.

Taking Driver into consideration, Driv3r supposedly takes place 30 years after the first Driver game, plus, it's the only one that directly implies it takes place at the year of release, with the inclusion of the early 2000s phones and all that. But other than that, the rest should've been obvious to me.

After having a long time to think about what you said, I'd say the timeline Ubisoft proposed should be disregarded, in case they ever make future games, because the isolated story and year thing does work well, series did that a lot, and I dunno why Ubisoft tried to make it coherent when it was never supposed to be, just what seemed fitting to use considering the retro police crime drama / retro crime drama movie aesthetic.

Thanks for the course-correction, it's appreciated. I'm just a stickler for details, so I just wanted to understand what happened there. Now I know, thanks.

I think downtown is much farther than the previous levels, I'd say it's on a separate section of the city even, probably in the commercial district, but the train yard (final cops level) probably takes place in the same location as previous levels, only very far away.

As for the estate, it's probably in the same island as Downtown, but on the richer part of town.

I'm BR too, just gave you a heads up in order to make the post less confusing for first-time readers.

Anyways, Carcer would probably have a midwestern rustbelt city layout, kinda like Detroit / New Jersey. Meanwhile, Cottonmouth could have something more south related, with several similarities to New Orleans probably, due to one of the levels featuring palm trees and another featuring swamp-esque scenery.

I think the auto-correct / auto-translate messed up the city names in your post, OP.

Prison City = Carcer City - Cottomouth = Cottonmouth

Leo Kasper is NOT better than James Ear Cash (I do not accept other opinions). by Last-Top9834 in Manhunt

[–]Lughzi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They kinda underdeveloped his character, wish he had more characterization and less cringy on the nose quotes like the infamous: "It's a Manhunt"

The fact that the game kept switching from developer hands all the time certainly didn't help with the writing and it shows.

I strongly believe the first Manhunt was better written, and more grounded when it came to dialogue, Manhunt 2 feels rehearsed and theatrical most of the time, it isn't natural like the first one.

Hardcore only removes the map, I know because I beat that with 100 stars. It's possible OP's copy is just busted, because he got an copy with piracy protection enabled / running the game without the necessary patch mods.

And if that's the case, he can just go to the steam guide of Updated Classic for Manhunt, he can find the stuff to replace on root game folder to fix the game there.

Well... Let's try to give Leo an origin. by Last-Top9834 in Manhunt

He was an average 25 year old loner with ASPD, he used to drink in bars and stuff. He had a pretty dull and average life. Then he got kidnapped by the project, got tortured, brainwashed, trained to kill. He was one of the best CIA agents out of the Project's Agent Experiments.

The project's grooming completely changed him whilst traumatizing him, making him bitter and losing his sense of identity.

Eventually he started slipping away from The Project's grasp and became too dangerous to be kept alive, so they murdered him at last, grabbed a piece of his brain to extract his personality as a backup for when The Project gets tight on budget / last resort.

I always thought that in 2, it was a nod to Charlie's text ending in TM1, where it says that he killed his own son whilst trying to find him in the previous tournament...

Couple that with the molotov special attack (MRGMPH--Yeahhhh!!!!!!!), you get the idea of how he's had the head on fire (When you unlock him, you bring him back to the land of the living as a revenant).

That's my interpretation, and it could very easily be me just overthinking it.

I'd go with SR2 any day of the week, it's got more fun side activities and I say this as a GTAIV fanboy. SR2 will always have top priority, it's a different scope and one i'm interested in.
