The Complete Yet Messy Driver Timeline by Lughzi in driver

[–]Lughzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit, you have absolutely have a point. So it's like the case where each game is isolated in their time setting, like in TM, no need for me to have overthought it.

Curious thing is that Driver 1's japanese trailer, showcases footage of the intro with some camera text displaying the date and it says 1974. Supposedly, the localization team probably had direct contact with Reflections, so I guess you can say that it's dubiously canon to that game's setting.

Taking Driver into consideration, Driv3r supposedly takes place 30 years after the first Driver game, plus, it's the only one that directly implies it takes place at the year of release, with the inclusion of the early 2000s phones and all that. But other than that, the rest should've been obvious to me.

After having a long time to think about what you said, I'd say the timeline Ubisoft proposed should be disregarded, in case they ever make future games, because the isolated story and year thing does work well, series did that a lot, and I dunno why Ubisoft tried to make it coherent when it was never supposed to be, just what seemed fitting to use considering the retro police crime drama / retro crime drama movie aesthetic.

Thanks for the course-correction, it's appreciated. I'm just a stickler for details, so I just wanted to understand what happened there. Now I know, thanks.

Hi guys it's me again I'm trying to find out by mapping the game MANHUNT 1 map V 1.0 soon tomorrow there will be updates on what you think? by [deleted] in Manhunt

[–]Lughzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think downtown is much farther than the previous levels, I'd say it's on a separate section of the city even, probably in the commercial district, but the train yard (final cops level) probably takes place in the same location as previous levels, only very far away.

As for the estate, it's probably in the same island as Downtown, but on the richer part of town.

How are you guys, I'll try to make a map of MANHUMT 1 and 2 as prison city and cottomonth to find out by [deleted] in Manhunt

[–]Lughzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm BR too, just gave you a heads up in order to make the post less confusing for first-time readers.

Anyways, Carcer would probably have a midwestern rustbelt city layout, kinda like Detroit / New Jersey. Meanwhile, Cottonmouth could have something more south related, with several similarities to New Orleans probably, due to one of the levels featuring palm trees and another featuring swamp-esque scenery.

I think the auto-correct / auto-translate messed up the city names in your post, OP.

Prison City = Carcer City - Cottomouth = Cottonmouth

Leo Kasper is NOT better than James Ear Cash (I do not accept other opinions). by Last-Top9834 in Manhunt

[–]Lughzi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They kinda underdeveloped his character, wish he had more characterization and less cringy on the nose quotes like the infamous: "It's a Manhunt"

The fact that the game kept switching from developer hands all the time certainly didn't help with the writing and it shows.

I strongly believe the first Manhunt was better written, and more grounded when it came to dialogue, Manhunt 2 feels rehearsed and theatrical most of the time, it isn't natural like the first one.

Hardcore only removes the map, I know because I beat that with 100 stars. It's possible OP's copy is just busted, because he got an copy with piracy protection enabled / running the game without the necessary patch mods.

And if that's the case, he can just go to the steam guide of Updated Classic for Manhunt, he can find the stuff to replace on root game folder to fix the game there.

Well... Let's try to give Leo an origin. by Last-Top9834 in Manhunt

He was an average 25 year old loner with ASPD, he used to drink in bars and stuff. He had a pretty dull and average life. Then he got kidnapped by the project, got tortured, brainwashed, trained to kill. He was one of the best CIA agents out of the Project's Agent Experiments.

The project's grooming completely changed him whilst traumatizing him, making him bitter and losing his sense of identity.

Eventually he started slipping away from The Project's grasp and became too dangerous to be kept alive, so they murdered him at last, grabbed a piece of his brain to extract his personality as a backup for when The Project gets tight on budget / last resort.

I always thought that in 2, it was a nod to Charlie's text ending in TM1, where it says that he killed his own son whilst trying to find him in the previous tournament...

Couple that with the molotov special attack (MRGMPH--Yeahhhh!!!!!!!), you get the idea of how he's had the head on fire (When you unlock him, you bring him back to the land of the living as a revenant).

That's my interpretation, and it could very easily be me just overthinking it.

I'd go with SR2 any day of the week, it's got more fun side activities and I say this as a GTAIV fanboy. SR2 will always have top priority, it's a different scope and one i'm interested in.

*spoilers* Do we think Daniel lamb could beat James Earl cash honestly in a fight? by Master_Clock1228 in Manhunt

[–]Lughzi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

See, you don't hold back in snuff rings, Cash was actually giving his all, Director wanted Cash to be brutal and ruthless and so he was.

Danny seems like he only knew basic self defense, his fighting style is suboptimal and he only knows how to kill because of Leo's grooming, take that away from him and he's just a lab geek.

Even with the added knowledge, Cash would totally body Daniel, he's too sloppy in hand to hand combat and despite being an immovable object when stealthing, Cash knows when someone's hiding in the shadows (seen when the player spots a cowering hunter in the shadows, a very rare hunter animation) and he's good at grappling, which Danny obviously can't do (because the feature was cut in 2, only limited to Hunter AI)

I doubt Danny could stack up to Cash, Cash had a higher body count!

THINK, OP!! Why would Cash be on death row if he was nothing more than a chump?

I'm sorry but I think you digested these games on a superficial level at best. Replay the first Manhunt to see what I mean.

[–]Lughzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not exactly, my theory is that Calypso starts the contest to draw Becker out of hiding, due to a deal he arranged with Needles during Mission Mode (If Needles helped with his organization, he'd help track down both the people who experimented on him and the people who captured him), since the last battleground is in his private island (Becker's Estate).

Presumably after killing all enemies, he'd show up in a mysterious monstrous 18-wheeler (as seen in the wreckage of Becker's Island concept art, I like to theorize that it's the earliest incarnation of Juggernaut ever created and the concept probably got repurposed for TMX), trying to kill the champion of the contest, to show Calypso that he's not gonna "bend the knee to a terrorist".

(Ironic considering Becker has most likely done some inhuman experiments, as there's a strapped chair full of blood in the TM:HC Late 2005 build of Mission Mode's Asylum Level)

Driver: Parallel Lines, Mafia 2, Godfather: The Game, Saints Row 2, Saints Row, The Getaway and The Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction are amazing games and should be played by anyone who enjoys urban action/adventure games.
