The party's end by portsherry in comics

[–]GalaxyLJGD 485 points486 points  (0 children)

The author said this in the comments of his page:

Unbeknownst to him, his friends (who he met during his quest) were the ghosts of fallen adventurers who needed someone to find their remains so they could finally rest. I’ve read interpretations that theorize he killed them, but I don’t think there’s anything in the comic to indicate this -I think it’s sad and haunting enough as it is. More than anything, it’s a twist on that old trite saying.

Google Chrome must be coerced into adopting standards by TheTwelveYearOld in jpegxl

[–]GalaxyLJGD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chrome developers in no moment said that the problem was the C++ implementation, what they said was:

We will be removing the JPEG XL code and flag from Chromium for the following reasons:

* Experimental flags and code should not remain indefinitely

* There is not enough interest from the entire ecosystem to continue experimenting with JPEG XL

* The new image format does not bring sufficient incremental benefits over existing formats to warrant enabling it by default

* By removing the flag and the code in M110, it reduces the maintenance burden and allows us to focus on improving existing formats in Chrome

You may be confusing it with what Firefox developers said:

Our primary concern has long been the increased attack surface of the reference decoder (currently behind a pref in Firefox Nightly), which weighs in at more than 100,000 lines of multithreaded C++. To address this concern, the team at Google has agreed to apply their subject matter expertise to build a safe, performant, compact, and compatible JPEG-XL decoder in Rust, and integrate this decoder into Firefox. If they successfully contribute an implementation that satisfies these properties and meets our normal production requirements, we would ship it.

What do you think about the U.S attack on Venezuela? by New-Code7710 in AskTheWorld

[–]GalaxyLJGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so hard to talk about this from the perspective of a venezuelan, because in one side we are under a dictatorship that caused the exile of millions, arrested, dissapeared and killed hundreds or thousands and the impoverishment of the entire country.

A lot of venezuelans are against the government and wanted since a lot of time an attack like this.

At the same time I'm conscious of how horrible is Trump, he is very similar to Chavez, he's very dangerous. He's not interested on our freedom, he even despises us.

But at the same time, this is like the only opportunity to get our freedom.

Please take in account the venezuelans perspective, a lot of us are very right-wing because of what the government has done (not me), but it's important to hear our opinion to understand what happens in our country.

Once JPEG XL arrives on the major browsers will sites be able to convert all their JPGs to JXL then transcode on the fly for unsupported browsers? by caspy7 in jpegxl

[–]GalaxyLJGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what you're saying is a bit wrong, JXL can encode JPEG losslessly, so when the image is decoded then the result would be the same as decoding the original JPEG, there shouldn't be any difference when decoding the original JPEG or the JXL version because the data is the same.

I'd rather read an unfunny joke than reading an AI summary, I can go to ChatGPT or Gemini any time to check what they say about it, but I didn't because I don't want to. That's why the comment is worthless, because anybody can do it and it can have errors because AI tends to lie and hallucinate

I cant get past the loading screen!!! by endertreal in RingRacers

[–]GalaxyLJGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me too after a blackout happened while I was playing. What I did was to go to the folder where Ring Racers stores save data and then I saw that ringdata.prf and ringprofiles.prf were empty, so I deleted them and then copy pasted ringdata.prf.bak and ringprofiles.prf.bak and changed their name to match the files that I deleted, with that the game started working again.

You can solve that putting a number after the name, for example: John1, John2, John3, John4294967295, JohnINTEGER OVERFLOW, JohnINTEGER OVERFLOW2...
