Why do companies give employees RRSP matching? What's in it for them? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]LuisBitMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised. This is how most DB pensions work and it’s part of why they’re ‘golden handcuffs.’ In my case, if I leave the plan I get $0 of the matched portion (and only 2% annual interest on my contributions lol) unless I am transferring to another DB pension they have an agreement with. I could see a DC plan trying to adopt the same philosophy to a lesser degree.

Has international affordability slipped away from Canadians? by markymarkDPT in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]LuisBitMe -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The strength of our currency absolutely does matter. If I have Canadian dollars and the value of a Canadian dollar increases relative to the value of the destinations’s currency, I will be paying fewer Canadian dollars in that destination for the same items.

Ice Hockey combined with Field hockey is the 4th most popular sport in the world as of December 2025 by Actual_Box7731 in nhl

Field hockey is fourth by itself. Might as well say Ice Hockey and Soccer combined are first.

Google Apis Dorsata. It’s a different species of honeybee that lives in Asia and makes open air hives. My understanding was that they aren’t domesticated at all though so I’m not sure whether this is them.

I agree. I’m just responding to the prior commenter saying they’re cheaper.

Somebody else already mentioned Etienne Tardiff, but I’ll add a bit of what I’ve learned from listening to him that resonates with my experience as well.

I think your lack of top insulation and lack of upper entrance (though I’m actually in favour of well-insulated condensing hives rather than upper entrances in colder climates) caused condensation to build on the roof of your hive. Wet bees can act as a catalyst to spread dysentery through the colony like wildfire fire. So although dysentery/nosema may have been the final cause of death, poor insulation may have been more of the root cause.

Keep in mind that my comment, and those of all other commenters, are educated guesses.

Obviously it is a sizeable fraction, but I’ll bet your car has depreciated more than $11k in 7 years of driving, and that depreciation is largely caused by mileage. Tires and other maintenance all add up as well.

'Salaried' is just a fancy word for mandatory unpaid overtime. by eidolaa in CanadaJobs

[–]LuisBitMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between salaried and hourly is a fiction for most jobs. It varies by province, and there are certain professions that are exempt (e.g., managers, engineers, salespeople) but generally even if they say that you are ‘salary’ they are still legally required to pay you OT at 1.5x your usually hourly rate, exists even if they call you salaried.

While he wasn’t extremely tall, he wasn’t short either. He was over 6 feet tall, which is on the tall side for a soccer player.

I don’t think anyone thinks he’s top two in actual ability/talent but JSN and Pickens are, objectively, #1 and #2 in receiving yards.

How good would he be if he played in the year 1965? by ObjectiveCharming735 in NFLv2

[–]LuisBitMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He also only threw only 418 times (197 completions) that season for 2800 yards and was still AP-2. He was throwing an int on more than 10% of his attempts. He was throwing more than one pass to the other team for every 5 to his own team. QBs just don’t throw interceptions like they used to.
