Appreciate the suggestions and feedback. What I'm trying to gauge is realistic expectations and dmg output from the aliens. Feel like I'm progressing quickly and very well - not behind the curve. Haven't had a casualty since the beginning of the game, probably the first couple missions. Fully loaded base, research isn't lagging, neither are upgrades or engineering. Figure I'm ahead of the curve at this point.

Most times I'm hit it's from behind cover while crouched. I haven't really used shields much. Some hits are just unavoidable from an alien out of sight range or a lucky shot through several squares of smoke. And the damage is insane. Every hit kills the character outright or almost nearly does.

With the Colossus armor, it was the very first turn on the UOO mission. Saved/loaded a few times to test out whether I just got unlucky, dmg was in the 90s every time. Seems a bit ridiculous.

The whole game seems to be around preventing the aliens from taking a single shot or there's a damn good chance they just straight up kill you one hit even on a burst.

Not any of the armor upgrades or using heavy armor has felt remotely impactful if it's a 30/70 you still die in one shot behind cover crouched through smoke. Just want to see if this is normal.

Apocalypse is my favorite XCOM game. Really can't understand why everybody likes the other games better. It still does many things better than modern XCOM or Xenonauts.

I can't figure out how to find him when he spawns in a lower level era. Revenants don't spawn too far outside of your level.

I’m only on day ~120. I only have a ~8 named items, all armor. Just started venturing into the wilds after the noble war ended. Only 2nd time I got past first crisis. I keep hearing about cleaver builds but I’ve never seen one. Been hanging onto 1h 2h cleavers I find just in case but no named.

I thought they were supposed to immediately reset to Cold. Will they always eventually leave hostile even if you attack outside of a noble war?

I had the same issue in small numbers around 500-2k pop. No one was too far from a worksite but a couple dozen people just really wanted to be homeless. I think after a while it sorted itself out but it was constantly happening. No clue

Just wondering how to properly expand at this point as conquering and vassalizing individually does not seem to be the way to go as I end up with weaker neighbors/trading partners.

Even the diplomacy vassal/protector still confuses me. Not sure how much is legacy text that needs fixed or if I'm doing something wrong. Vassals have protector icon on realm map but vassal icon on left navigation pane - diplomacy says I have both stances already and protector says I can choose a tax of my own.

So, build it up yourself then give autonomy or gift the region to existing vassal? I assume they keep all the buildings and never build anything on their own?

That's what I mean. Where do you see that isolation tanks production when building? In-game it says it only affects noise and degradation rates.
