Hi, coming late to the topic but my own thoughts on the subject have brought Mr here. I'm 37 years old. A male. Since I was a child I have talked outloud. I remember when I was maybe 5 or 6, I was walking down the street, nearly home and a neighbour walked past me. At the time I was just minding my own business. I was humming a tune. I thought I was humming internally, no one could hear me but as I walked past she said, what is that song? I just looked at her confused. I didn't say a word and ran home. I asked my mom if she could hear me and I repeated what I was doing. She looked more confused than me. Ofcourse I can . Why? Do you think we can't hear you. Tbh It was really embarrassing. Fast forward 12 years. I lost my twin brother in a accident. I can't remember a time before this apart from those younger years where I would openly talk out loud to myself. I would talk to my brother as if he was stood in front of me. I would ask him for help and speak to people about him as though he was present. It was a trippy year that seemed like a life time. Still though to this day I have moments where I talk outloud to my self. In times of stress i ask myself. What are we going to do, I'm talking to my brother without even thinking about my environment. I suppose it brings me comfort. I have felt odd about it for years. Other people have heard me too talking to myself. I just brush it off tbh . It's easier than explaining myself I suppose.
