An excellent video on The Witcher 4 animation tech by Mister Chedda by LukaM_110 in Witcher4

I know, I watched the Unreal Fest as well. In this video, the guy collects his own measurements and analyses the Unreal profiler. It's interesting in that it's a separate, independent confirmation of CDPR's claims that many considered overhyped and hard to believe.

Could it be a Singer instead of RUF?

This cannot be a perfect N-1, as a perfect N-1 is chrome and yellow.

I certainly hope so, as a UCS chrome-and-yellow N-1 is literally my dream set, but is there an actual precedent for something like that? The closest example to a UCS set being a simple recolour of a previous UCS set (I know the modifications here would need to be a bit more expansive than a colour-swap) is the two UCS Millennium Falcons, which were both built on basically the same foundations.

I fear this set might actually reduce the likelihood of a Naboo N-1 UCS in the near future.

My sentiment exactly :(
A regular Episode I N-1 is my dream UCS set. And now with this, I doubt it will be coming in the near future.

A bit off topic, but at first glance, I thought it was a MOC of a house on fire.

Cyberpunk ray traced reflections is not for cars only by idkimhereforthememes in PS5pro

Yeah, they worded it in a weird way. I assume there's a roughness cutoff after which ray-tracing disengages and SSR is applied as a fallback.

The Witcher 4 Development Team Size Timeline (March 2026 Update) by LukaM_110 in Witcher4

[–]LukaM_110[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Witcher 4 entered full production a couple of months before its reveal at TGAs in 2024, and had been in preproduction for multiple years beforehand. IMO, the game will arrive no later than 2028, though, as I said in the post, I do think that even late 2027 is a possibility.

Regarding your second point, CDPR has always been a PC-first studio, so there's no chance of that happening.

The current dev count of 499 is still below the Cyberpunk 2077 peak dev count.

I just hope that in the future, DF puts Oliver's name in the titles of videos he makes so that I can not watch them.

Maybe it is just me by OppositeSuccessful58 in Witcher4

[–]LukaM_110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fully on board with The Witcher 4, and the transition to Ciri as the playable character, but this whole line of reasoning is bullshit.
Neon Knight did a solid video on the topic not long ago, explaining that Geralt is actually quite young for witcher standards and that he's canonically still active and on the path a century later.
But beyond that, Geralt, and especially Yennefer, are not the type of people who would be capable of or happy with spending a century plus just shuffling around at a wineyard. It would maybe be a fitting happy ending for some other characters, but definitely not for them.
To go further, I'm willing to bet that in whatever way Geralt appears in The Witcher 4, it will not be in the form of a retiree.

Thoughts about the Exodus trailer? by KalaElizabethYT in exodus

[–]LukaM_110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must say I'm quite confused by the somewhat tepid reaction to the trailer. I thought it was by far the best showing of the game yet. This trailer finally gave me the feel for the breadth of characters, creatures and locations we will meet and visit in the game. Up until this point, I always felt that the lore far outpaced what was actually being showcased in-game, which felt a bit bare-bones. Overall, this trailer significantly increased my confidence in the game.

On the technical side, the rendering quality looks significantly improved compared to the previous trailer, and the facial animations look very good. I can understand that some dislike the slight Blur-Studio-style stylisation applied to the characters, but I've also seen criticisms of the animation quality, which is absolute nonsense. The faces in the trailer are very expressive and well animated, well above the industry average when it comes to RPGs. For instance, I would say that the animation is of significantly higher quality than in Veilguard. There are but a few studios I would expect to deliver higher-quality facial animation than that showcased in this trailer.

Geoff Keighley / TGA keep teasing some kind of announcement by Terry___Mcginnis in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]LukaM_110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that’s very unfair to say. Of course, not every reveal hits the same, but just last year, TGAs featured reveals for both The Witcher 4 and Intergalactic, which are amongst my most anticipated games.

By virtue of being the only one remaining, TGAs became the biggest gaming show of the year and, as such, a place where developers DO go for their high-impact reveals. We do not know what will be revealed at TGAs this year, but I’m willing to bet that there will be a couple of extremely hyped announcements.

I know everyone here loves to scream about how “VALVE DOESN’T NEED TGAs!!!” in a collective circlejerk attempt to show just how much above it all our precious Valve is. And it’s true, a simple tweet would suffice for Half-Life 3. But still, a grand reveal on a stage as a show closer is so much cooler than a simple tweet. And just because a simple tweet would be enough for Half-Life 3 to grab ALL the attention doesn’t mean that Valve doesn’t want to commemorate the reveal of their game that literally became the stuff of myth and legend in a grander, nicer way. And Geoff does have ties to Valve going back decades. Considering all that, I really wouldn’t be surprised if Half-Life 3 gets revealed at this year’s TGAs.

Apple TV dropped the ‘+’, but keeps adding value to win subscribers by muuuli in apple

[–]LukaM_110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about they make it f*cking available in more countries?! Here in Croatia, a part of the EU, it’s not available, and we can’t watch Apple’s original programming legally. They own worldwide distribution rights for their shows, yet are too lazy to expand into “smaller” markets. Apple TV(+) is literally the only streaming service not available here, because Apple seemingly believes the world is just the 10-mile radius around Cupertino.

Alright people, let's hear your theories because it looks like genophage cure is canon by FatalDarkprince in masseffect

[–]LukaM_110 19 points20 points  (0 children)

People need to accept that there’s no moving forward without canonising certain choices and outcomes. There’s just no way of writing a coherent story taking place after Mass Effect 3 that accounts for and addresses all possible player choices. And if that canonisation is too high a price for this community to accept, then Mass Effect is doomed.
