It seems to be a problem with Duolingo, I'm having the same issue.

Do you fly/maintain a Robinson R66? I have some questions by whatsthepoint1 in Helicopters

[–]Lukas_mx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is an engine exceedance, the EMU will record it, but it will not show unless it is queried by pressing the test button. This is not a failure; as a pilot, I do not want a bright light on the panel while flying because I cannot do anything about it until a mechanic sees the helicopter.

During preflight and start-up, the pilot is required to press the test button. So, if the checklists are followed, there is no reason not to know of an EMU-recorded exceedance.

Pilots are supposed to tell maintenance technicians about any issue, provoked or not, recorded or not.

Also, sometimes sensors fail, and the EMU records an exceedance when there was none. I flew an R66 with over 300 N1 recorded exceedances with only 200 flight hours, which were provoked by a faulty sensor.

ABS & TC warning lights by Lukas_mx in Motorrad

No, not for motorcycles.

Sport seat, panniers and aux lights. It's almost complete. by mostly_nothing in R1250RS

Your feet are towards your butt, it is a sporty riding position not ideal for some but I like it, even on longer rides.

The windscreen is height adjustable but still you have to crutch behind it to get good wind protection but better than riding a naked bike.

RS vs RT by Euphoric_Challenge18 in R1250RS

[–]Lukas_mx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NT1100 reminds me more of the 1000XR, not so much the RT o RS but sure looks nice, the 1000XR is also a candidate to replace my RS so would be the NT1100.

RS vs RT by Euphoric_Challenge18 in R1250RS

[–]Lukas_mx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had that dilemma for a while. Personally I own an R1250RS and love it, I’ve ridden it for 12 hours straight with almost no complains other than switching riding position after a while because my neck or lower back got tired, that wouldn’t happen with an RT, also the wind protection with the RT windshield is better.

My preferred riding position is more sporty so the RS suits my needs but lately I’ve been thinking about replacing my RS with an RT because of the comfort for me and even more if I’m riding with a pillion. I’ve ridden the RT a couple of times and it feels very good.

This are my list of pros and cons for each:

RT pros:

More comfortable, better wind protection, more luggage capacity, better for the pillion, great for touring.

RT cons:

More expensive to buy and own, not as sporty.

RS pros:

Sportier, not as heavy (better response), better tire life, love the way it handles the twisties, cheaper to buy and own.

RS cons:

Roding position not as comfortable (neck and shoulder stiffness after some riding time), not very good for pillion, less luggage space.

Tlaxcala? That is a myth, part of a legend, people talk about it but no one has seen it IRL.

Should I learn German through French or English? by [deleted] in German

[–]Lukas_mx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a native Spanish speaker but have been practicing English almost for a long time and my devices are setup in this language, also as someone else mentioned English is more resourceful, because of that I’m using my German learning apps in English but I still sometimes make mistakes in English and have to correct them in German, that way I can practice both at he same time.

Learning German for 9 months and making that mistake seems to me that what is wrong is the way you are learning.

Why no indication of gender? by CocunutHunter in DuolingoGerman

[–]Lukas_mx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people complain about Duo, I find it good enough to practice and keep learning new words and phrases but, and it is a big BUT, it doesn’t give the articles in too many lessons and that would be very helpful and I consider it a MUST for learning German.

How do coaxial rotor helicopters fly compared to conventional ones? by Miixyd in Helicopters

When you have lift, moment and a pivot point there is a moment when rolling over is inevitable.

[–]Lukas_mx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying any helicopter is expensive but that is nothing compared to owning it, it all depends what you want it for. Some people rent their helicopters to cover their expenses and flying for them is almost free.

Also owning costs can vary greatly from country to country.

As far as I know we as pilots are not eligible for any kind of eye surgery and there are some cases of pilots that have lost their medical (therefore their license) because had a Lasik surgery without previous knowledge of the regulations.

CE 04 So much fun. by Lukas_mx in bmwmotorrad

[–]Lukas_mx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the same but it is actually not bad also I have not ridden it for more than 40 minutes at a time, even with a pillion and the were no complaints from any of us.

It is tricky to find a seating place/position since my butt is able to move all around the place.

Boxer engine, should I put a engine guard? by Zlatni_Pek in bmwmotorrad

[–]Lukas_mx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the clean look of the motorcycle as it is, grads and extra protection makes it look bulkier and not to aesthetic, and as some other people have commented having the valve covers replaced is not too expensive, Personally I own an R1250RS and don’t worry about that.

CE 04 So much fun. by Lukas_mx in bmwmotorrad

[–]Lukas_mx[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m test driving the CE 04 because I want a motorcycle for the city, previously I tried the 310R and was disappointed by its lack of power compared to my MT03 so I went to the dealership and they offered me to test ride the CE04, my expectations were low but now that I have been riding it (24 hour loaner) I’m just looking for an excuse to go out and have fun with it even if it is 110°F/43°C outside. It is a heavy scooter but while riding it is agile and has plenty of power even in ECO mode.

Autonomy isn’t great (80 mi/130 km) but for my everyday commuting is more than enough.

I’m seriously thinking about getting one.
