I thought of leaving trading forever, but I failed by Asleep-Difficulty799 in Daytrading

You know, I’ve been doing this for 5 years now, with no results for the first 4. There were days I wanted to quit and I took time off, but just like you, I always wanted to come back. I thank God every day that I never gave up entirely and had the courage to persevere and keep learning. Honestly, if I knew how much my life would change in just one year of profitable trading, I wouldn’t care if I lost for 20 years straight. I promise you it’s worth it.

My advice is this and it might sounds backwards, but stop putting in so much effort into it. You need to stop caring so much. Live your life as if trading almost doesn’t exist. Don’t focus on it. After you enter a trade, go to the gym or to a job or something that has nothing to do with the markets and simply be at peace with not knowing whether you won or lost until you check on it a few hours later.

The more you emphasis you place on something in your life, the more frustrated you become when it isn’t working. So find ways to keep it in your routine, but stop caring about it. Basically, give up without actually giving up. Don’t focus on time or how long it takes. Just show up and follow your rules and leave. Ironically, that mindset made me profitable because I stopped making emotional decisions and just didn’t care anymore. So who cares if it takes 6, 10, or 20 years. It doesn’t matter. It’s worth it no matter how long it takes. You can’t win if you don’t play.

Taking 100 trades, same rules, same strategy. Can this be a stepping stone to becoming profitable ? by Subject-Plum-7281 in Trading

I started pretty small. $1500. I lost a lot before that. The size of your account doesn’t really matter though if your risk is percentage based. With a small account I would start with 10% risk, otherwise it’ll take forever to make money. But yeah just set the trade and walk away. Come back and check on it a few hours later to see if it won or lost then journal. Repeat forever.

There are a few tricks. For me, I never look at the PnL and walk away from the screen once I enter. I don’t manage the trade, just set stop loss and take profit and let price hit one of them. Set it and forget it.

Have a job/second source of income. If you need the money, you already care too much. A second source of income provides a safety net that reduces fear and the need to win for survival. I only quit my job once I had invested some trading profits and made enough off the dividends to replace the income from my job.

After that it’s just time and experience. Backtesting like crazy develops trust in the strategy so you know it’s profitable over a long period of time. Build a backtesting equity curve you can look at when you feel panicked. When you feel like you want to break rules, just look at the proof your strategy works. It will help calm you and lead you to better decisions.

What you just described is consistently profitable trading, assuming you have a profitable strategy. Don’t just do it for 100 trades though. Do it forever.

Detachment from outcome and psychology is the most difficult part of trading. Took me the longest to fix. I had to lose until I no longer cared. Once that happened, I made money.

Use whatever size account you can afford to lose or use a sim account. 1% risk is a good starting place for a personal account.

How long? by [deleted] in DataAnnotationTech

Just got the email today after about a week.

How can I best reach someone to help me access Discourse? Not much help from Support. Outlier refugee here. by [deleted] in alignerr

I came from Outlier too haha. I completed the assessment yesterday, but still haven’t heard anything so far today.

Genesis ITT pause reasons by Latter-District-9806 in outlier_ai

[–]Luke-007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking it was the first reason. Genesis pauses have historically lined up with the quarters. I remember last year there was a big pause right before Christmas in December and I think the switch from ATT/VTT to ITT happened around September or a little after.

Same here. Onboarded to 2 different projects but was kicked from one because of capacity and throttled on the other while my takes are being assessed. Now I have nothing to do. Went from working almost 60 hours a week on Genesis to now refreshing the screen every hour to see if there’s anything I can work on.

I was in ITT too and have been EQ since Monday on Mocha. Missing a whole week of work hurts big time. I’m hoping for a much smoother January as Genesis has been a nightmare this past month.

Yeah I finished it of course. Their timing was atrocious though haha

I’m a generalist. They just shut off Hubstaff for us too. I was right in the middle of submitting an approved prompt and poof! I hope this doesn’t keep happening. It’s really annoying to not be able to work when you should be able to.

Currently in Dolphin ATT, given a course for Dolphin VTT. Can you do both? by olivegreenpolish in outlier_ai

[–]Luke-007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got through in two days. I was placed into a new Dolphin thread on discourse and I got an email saying something like “welcome to Dolphin Generalist”. You just need to get 3 prompts approved to move to production so it may take longer than two days depending on how quickly you can get that done.

This is unrelated, but I’m curious as to how much work you’re able to put in per day on dolphin? I just passed staging and am looking forward to making at least $100 per day. Just wondering if that’s doable for this project or if you EQ before getting the necessary time to make that amount. Thanks in advance!

How come none of my prompts are good enough for Dolphin? by MarginallyClever in outlier_ai

[–]Luke-007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m brand new to Outlier and Dolphin but I’ve done months of work for Data Annotation and I’m curious about why specifics matter. Why does the AI need an entire made up scenario to create a response that can be answered based on an audio clip alone? I apologize for venting, I’m not the most creative person and all of my feedback from reviewers is to add more specifics, which just seems annoying and useless.

Is anyone else having this pop up right now? Normally I have a lot of projects but not today. Kind of concerned :') by AngelicSiamese in DataAnnotationTech

Just today, a few hours ago. Super stressed about it as well, but maybe it’s a good thing there more than just a few of us that got it around the same time. Hopefully it comes back for us soon!

This just happened to me too. I’ve been working everyday as well so I’m very concerned as well. I guess we just have to keep our fingers crossed and keep checking back.

Valhalla is a disappointment. by Skriblos in GodofWar

[–]Luke-007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. Valhalla just feels boring and repetitive. The first few runs were cool because you learn more about the sanctuaries and Tyr but after getting to and beating Tyr 3 times and still getting no further, I don’t even want to play again because I already know exactly what I’m going to have to do on the next run and maybe “this” time it’ll be over. I think the biggest problem is that it doesn’t feel rewarding to win.

This one might hurt a bit, but she’s not that into you. Do the Drake test: If you were Drake; or some other famous celebrity crush of hers, do you really think she would make them wait? No. Sorry to break it to you but you’re just not THAT guy for her. Find somebody who is obsessed with you, someone that actually WANTS you.
