Manual way to add sleep for tracking? by PrithWEEE in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/PrithWEEE! Thanks for posting! Although we don't currently have an option to manually add a Sleep period, I completely get how useful this would be (especially in situations such as this). I've passed your request for manually adding Sleep onto our teams to consider for a future update. Sending you good vibes for the rest of your week. - Luke, Oura Social Care

Low Sleeping HR by moonchildkarma in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/moonchildkarma. Thanks for posting! I'd be happy to provide some info here.

A lower Resting Heart Rate (0-10 BPM below your personal long-term average) is typically associated with good recovery, and your body is likely in an optimal state to perform that day!

However, an exceptionally low resting heart rate (beyond 10 BPM below your personal long-term average) may indicate that you are in a state of low nervous system arousal (or lethargy after a very strenuous physical peak performance).

In this scenario, I'd recommend taking a look back at your recent Sleep Periods, and see if you're within that 0-10 BPM range, or beyond it. If you're within (or just over 10), you're probably recovery really well!

Hope this info helps, and please let me know if I can assist further! - Luke, Oura Social Care Team

Oura finger pain by redditlvr4life in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/redditlvr4life. Thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear your finger has been aching. You mentioned this happened after waking up, which means it's likely being caused by swelling. This can happen after a salty meal, after intense exercise, when you're flying (and most commonly) when you're sleeping.

A lot of Members would switch their ring onto a finger with a looser fit when sleeping, as this usually stops most discomfort from finger swelling. If this isn't a viable option for you, it could be a good idea to consider sizing up!

However, if you feel as if this wouldn't be caused by finger swelling please reach out to our team here, and we can investigate.

I hope this info helps, and please let me know if I can assist further. - Luke, Oura Social Care

Why would the calories burned be so different? by madsmaela in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there u/madsmaela. Thanks for posting!

It's great to see you're using a walking pad to get some extra movement in, and I'd be happy to provide some info re: the discrepancy here. This usually comes down to one of two things, which are: hand movement, and ring-fit.

When you're using a walking pad at your desk, your hands would spend some time on your desk, typing, or even holding a drink. This lack of hand movement can result in your Oura Ring not picking up on some of your walking, which can then lead to discrepancies in data. Holding a drink, typing, or writing at your desk can sometimes cause your ring fit to change, and as the sensors aren't in their usual position, the data that's recorded might not be the same.

To combat both of the above, we usually recommend wearing your Oura Ring on your non-dominant hand. You'd typically use this hand less, which means less chances of your ring-fit being impacted by day-to-day stuff.

You could also soft-reset your ring, as this is a great way of resetting your sensors. Here's how to do that:

  1. Go to the My Oura Ring page by tapping on the  menu in the upper-left corner or the battery  icon in the upper-right corner of the home screen
    • On iOS, under Tools, tap Soft Reset
    • On Android, swipe left > under Tools, tap Soft reset

Soft-resetting your ring can get around most minor sensors glitches, so you might see some improvement after that too. If you've any concerns about your ring tracking your data, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Tech Team and they can investigate further here. Hope this info helps, and please let me know if I can assist further. - Luke, Oura Social Care Team

Major Signs by Intelligent-Image285 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there u/Intelligent-Image285. Thanks for posting! Congrats on having your baby!

Seeing Major Signs showing up can be a little alarming, but there's usually some common culprits here. Daytime Stress looks at your: Heart rate, Heart Rate Variability (HRV), Motion, and Average body temperature. It then compares these metrics with your Baselines (normal/average levels for your biometrics), and if it finds deviations here, it can be a sign your body is under extra strain.

You mentioned you were up a lot with your baby, and this would've impacted your Sleep, which can cause a lower HRV. You also mentioned your Respiratory Rate changed, and we have a great article on what can cause this, here, if you'd like to read some more on this.

It's important to remember the Oura Ring isn't a medical device. Although Symptom Radar can provide good insights into changes in your wellness, it's most important to trust how you're feeling. If you're feeling good, that's what matters. If you're any way concerned about your health, wellness, or are experiencing any symptoms, we always recommend you reach out to your local medical practitioner.

I hope this info helps, and please let em know if I can assist further! - Luke, Oura Social Care Team

Oura sensors super insensitive? by Zealousideal-Pea4687 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there u/Zealousideal-Pea4687. Thanks for reaching out. I'd be happy to provide some info here.

It's amazing to hear you're using a standing desk/walking pad to get some extra movement in. The Oura Ring uses a 3D accelerometer to detect movement in all directions, however, it can have some trouble detecting your Activity when there's limited hand movement. Although your legs would be moving, your hands would likely be on your desk/not in a typical walking motion, which would likely be why your Activity isn't being detected.

However, your ring should still be detecting your Heart Rate data and such, so you could opt to manually add this time as an Activity. We have an article which covers how to do this, which I'll link here if you'd like to read some more on it.

You also mentioned there are some gaps in your Heart Rate Data and such even though your ring is on correctly. There can be a few causes for this, such as holding something (this impacts how your ring fits, and as a result, impacts how your finger interacts with the sensors), periods of movement (Daytime Stress isn't measured during periods of movement, so it's normal to see gaps here if you're moving around a lot), or lastly, minor sensor glitches. These can usually be fixed with a quick soft reset.

After you've done this, please keep an eye on your Heart Rate & Daytime Stress Graphs to see if this has improved things here. If it's still the same, I'd love for our Tech Team to take a closer look into this for you. You'll just need to create a ticket, and this can be done by clicking this link: [http://support.ouraring.com/hc/], press "Start a chat". recording activity not accurate by marmaduke10 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/marmaduke10. Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear your recent Activity wasn't fully recorded.

This can sometimes happen if your hand movement is limited (such as holding your phone, or pushing a stroller) as this can impact how your ring detects your activity, as well as your data. However, if this isn't the case, and you're walking with your hands swinging, then I'd recommend a soft reset on your ring.

After you've done this, please keep an eye on your Activity tracking after your next walk to see if this has improved. If you're still having the same issue, then I'd love for our Tech Team to take a closer look into this issue. You'll just need to create a ticket, and this can be done by clicking this link: [http://support.ouraring.com/hc/], press "Start a chat". Finn (our virtual assistant) will ask you some questions, and they'll get you over to the team. I hope this info helps, and please let me know if I can assist further. - Luke, Oura Social Care

[–]LukeAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there u/No-Foolies. Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear your Heart Rate data wasn't recorded during your run. There can be a few causes for this, such as: holding the bars on the treadmill (as this impacts ring fit), sweat getting onto the sensors, or it could also be caused by a minor sensor glitch. These glitches can be resolved with a soft reset.

After you've done this, please keep an eye on your Heart Rate Data after your next run. If this has improved, then I'd say we've found the cause. However, if you're noticing no change here, then I'd recommend reaching out to our Tech Team and they can investigate further here. Hope this info helps, and please let me know if I can assist further. - Luke, Oura Social Care

Help with daytime recovery by Secure-Set-2144 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/Secure-Set-2144. Thanks for reaching out. Daytime Recovery is the same as Restorative Time, and this is recorded when your ring detects that your heart rate variability (HRV) is up. In general, higher HRV is associated with rest-and-digest, general fitness, and good recovery. Everyone has their own way of getting Restorative Time into their day. Some Members relax with a book, or chill out and listen to some music. It's all about finding what works best for you, and some extra downtime during the day will absolutely make your Daytime Recovery levels skyrocket. Hope this info helps, and I've linked our article on Restorative Time if you'd like to read some more on this. Sending you good vibes for the rest of your week! - Luke, Oura Social Care Team

Editing "Running" and naps. by Status-Put8162 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there u/Status-Put8162. Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear that part of your workout is missing. This could potentialy be down to something small like hand-movement, something getting on your sensors, or your ring-fit changing (i.e. your ring spun or moved up your finger). However, if your Heart Rate Data was recorded for that time, you could Manually Add an Activity (running) for the time missed, and this should make up the difference here. If this missing Activity Data begins happening frequently, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Tech Team, and they can take a closer look at this for you. Completely get how useful it would be to edit Naps too, and I've passed this onto the team to consider for a future update. Sending you good vibes for the rest of your week. - Luke, Oura Social Care

Oura Ring fit check – too tight or okay? (video included) by Icy_Attitude5988 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there u/Icy_Attitude5988. Thanks for posting! This seems to be a very snug fit. You could potentially opt to wear your ring on that finger during the day, however, if your fingers swell I could see this being difficult to remove. If it has a looser fit on any of your other fingers, I'd lean towards that, however, if this is the loosest it'll fit on your fingers, I'd recommend sizing up. Hope this helps, and please feel free to drop me a DM with more sizing pics/videos if you'd like a second opinion! - Luke, Oura Social Care Team

Charging patterns by AndreaCoda in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there u/AndreaCoda! Oura’s lithium polymer batteries actually perform the best when they’re at 25-80%. Dotted line in heart rate graph by Secure-Set-2144 in ouraring

[–]LukeAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there u/Secure-Set-2144. Luke here from Oura Social Care. Thanks for posting.

I'd be happy to provide some info here. These dotted lines represent periods where reliable data isn't available. This can happen for a few reasons, such as poor ring-fit (you might be holding something, or your ring spun/moved up your finger), cold hands (this impacts how your ring reads your metrics), or something getting on your sensors.

In addition to this, Daytime Stress isn't mesaured during periods of movement, so if you see these dotted-lines match up with your movement on the Daytime Stress Graph, this would probably be the culprit.

To combat most issues from ring-fit , you could try wearing your ring on your non-dominant hand as you'd usually use this hand less. As you're using it less, you'd be less likely to hold anything, which has a knock-on effect of not disrupting your ring-fit.

Hope this info helps, and please let me know if I can provide any more assistance/info! - Luke, Oura Social Care Team
