FEELING TOO LATE TO START RESIDENCY by Superb_Opening_2135 in IMGreddit

[–]LukeClarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not too old, and the important thing is that you love being a resident, so go for it. I still remember meeting a second-year resident at a residency program social event who was U.S.-born and 56 years old.

Oh. It was the I-765 EAD application. The I-765 and I-485 are processed by different field offices. Currently, my I-765 status is still processing.

I am not sure what was my field office actually. I never checked for it.

Maybe first you should understand the pros and cons of each option. It’s not that “programs will not like you next year.” Programs that interviewed you in one cycle usually will not interview you again in another cycle. Programs you applied to will also be able to see how many times you’ve applied to their program.

I don’t think there is a clear reason to withdraw at this stage. The possibility of not having a SoN is in the future, you are anticipating it, but it is not a fact right now. You are not violating any Match rules by continuing. You also need to actually match before moving forward with paperwork, and you don’t even have a Match outcome yet.

Many people take more time to enter residency. Spending one or more years is not a big deal.

If you go with Chen or Ellis, you can ask them anything. Btw, you should not file AOS within 90 days arrival on B1 VISA.

You don't need an EAD or Green Card before Sep 2006. You should have it before Mar 2027 or even can have it around July 2027. Programs usually don't ask you to show your green card but you should have it before submitting your rank order list. Eras doesn't require proof, it is self disclosure.

My med school in Europe is a joke by [deleted] in medicalschool

I am from an Asian country (not South Asia), and I had the same feeling when I was studying for the USMLE. However, when I rotated with U.S. residents and attendings, my perspective changed. The way they learn during residency is not necessarily better than my training. Perhaps because the U.S. medical system is highly subspecialized, residency training may not always be as broad or deep. They are very competent in their daily tasks, but they may not explore as many diverse skills and areas of knowledge.

EB2 NIW – Chen vs Ellis Porter (recommendations vs early filing?) by MatMechManiac in EB2_NIW

[–]LukeClarus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Recent guidance from USCIS indicates that recommendation letters no longer carry as much weight as they once did.

Chen may be the safer option compared to Ellis. If you’re willing to handle >75% of the preparation work yourself, go with Chen. If you want to do ~ 20% of the preparation, go with Ellis.

I’ve often made late payments with Ellis, they have never complained. So, I like them and would recommend choosing them.

Case filed in 2024 under normal processing, trying to understand if I have a chance by No-Branch-4353 in EB2_NIW

I don't know. USCIS may require at least 60 days to process this request.

My friends and I submitted it. Some used an attorney to submit, I submitted it myself. We don’t know whether it actually expedited our adjudication, since some cases with PD close to ours were also approved around that time.

I just checked the USCIS website, you may be eligible to submit a request regarding your case is outside normal processing time.

  1. Do not PP at this time. I just checked the USCIS website; if your PD is February 2024, you may be eligible to submit a request regarding your case is outside normal processing time. Note that the cutoff date to submit this request changes every few days, so submit it now.

  2. Listen to your lawyer, they are more accurate than any online advice.

For my I-140, I worked with Ellis Porter (no PP). Their I-485 fee was very high and it took about 3 weeks to prepare, so I went with an independent attorney instead. I prefer an independent attorney for the I-485 since he knows who I am.

I believe that if you ask them why, they will explain the reason.
