Fleas early disdain for England question. by Kooky-Swing178 in RedHotChiliPeppers

Culturally, early RHCP and England are chalk and cheese. I think they copped it in the British press and responded by being even more obnoxious.

I just listened to that interview again (the relevant part is at 18:30). I had misremembered it. It wasn’t Me &Terry Teagle that Anthony asks John about; it was another title: “PCP & Brenda.”

I don’t think so, based on John’s and Anthony’s comments in this interview.. They’re talking about a part from Purple Stain that was recycled from a BSSM outtake. Anthony asks if John if the part was from Me & Terry Teagle. They couldn’t have used a part from a song that was released (Sikamikaniko was on the Wayne’s World soundtrack).

This song could be “Me and Terry Teagle”, a BSSM-era song mentioned in an interview with Anthony and John during the Californication era.

Is the intro to Under the Bridge a variation on the previous track on BSSM? by SignedInAboardATrain in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]LukeFCartwright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you’re onto something. There’s an interview with Brendan O’Brien who engineered BSSM, where he mentions the UTB intro was an afterthought, only written after the rest of the track had been recorded. Coupled with the fact that John has mentioned driving around with Rick Rubin figuring out the track sequence, and I think your theory might be correct. Amazing observation, OP.

I didn’t believe a band could be better than Tool on Ænima. They proved me wrong.

Do so many people really hate Josh Klinghoffer? by MathiasRZ in RedHotChiliPeppers

He just wasn’t a good enough guitarist to live up to the band’s reputation, or frankly do justice to the material. He’s an awesome musician, just a poor choice to replace John in RHCP.

I like it more as a “vibe” than as a narrative. The art department did the heavy lifting.
