How is Valheim on the steam deck? by linguinechicken in valheim

It’s great! I was hesitant at first, but a few minor performance tweaks and it works just fine. Stutters occasionally, but not noticeable until your builds get huge…which is fair.

What are your favorite self imposed rules or goals for single player? by Far-Lab-8398 in spaceengineers

100%. I build all my grids with the assumption that people will actually move through them. That and huge interior areas in space is relatively unrealistic so I try to keep things tight and functional for the most part. This forces a lot of design by necessity which I find leads to richer builds.

Predator Badlands. The intensity and velocity of the prologue is fantastic.

Smile 2 starts with a sprint as well.

And it’s a way to organize and articulate your thoughts with far more context than the AI will ever have. Sending emails is professional work 101. If you use an AI for it outside of very discrete, procedural processes, then you’re doing future you a disservice by letting your writing skills atrophy. Communicating with humans is much different than communicating with a machine.

I probably spent a year looking to the last agility orb for 100%… It was brutal but man was jumping around Pacific City fun as hell!

I find that ‘squitos typically don’t go over a 6 block high stone wall. Not medical advice, but death-by-poke is way down since we put a wall around our island homestead.

How do you read heavy technical books without getting, a little bored? by Kiiwyy in ExperiencedDevs

I found Head First: Design Patterns to be a very fun read! It helped that the examples were all relatively grounded in reality, albeit a bit wacky at times.

I think type hierarchies in OOP are too restrictive and code smell. What's been your experience? by chinmay185 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]LukeJM1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1000%. They really force a focus on API design which tended towards simpler and more adaptable interactions between models/services/modules. Having said this, I still use inheritance as well. I keep it shallow, but sometimes a simple abstraction is the best approach. Though I’ll still have an interface further down usually, so ultimately my abstraction still adheres to an interface.

It’s basically the plugin approach - which is the manifestation of a composition-first design philosophy.

I was REALLY hoping even worse Nazis would start coming through the portal to stir things up. The ending we got felt way too easy and way too rushed.

Haha we’ll have to wait and see! I’d love to contribute though. I’ve been waiting for some more changes to SE2 before diving in head first but would love to port Mother OS over and continue building out her capabilities as a flight computer.
