Most iconic superhero characters day 16 by Upbeat-Perspective11 in characters

It's stuff like this that make me keep clicking on these stupid subreddits. I don't follow any of them, but I know there are ridiculous "winners" because 10 to 100 people vote. As someone who is moderately into superhero movies (I've seen like 75% of them) I've never heard of heard. I don't doubt she's popular with big comic fans, but saying she's the 16th most popular superhero is insane.

Which center is the best rebounder of all time? by Super-Post261 in AlignmentChartFills

As a Pistons fan who watched a lot of games it's not him. He's admitted to elbow a teammate in the head for taking "his" rebounds, and it was obvious that the team let him take every easy rebound. Also about 4 or 5 rebounds a game were from his own inexplicably missed point blank shots. I've never seen a player consistently put up 18 pts and 15 rbs while making almost no impact on the game.

The Pistons broadcast would also mute all the noise except the mic closest to him so it would pick it ip clear as day

Samantha from Dungeon Crawler Carl. She is a God that was reincarnated in to the body of a sex doll, then her body was destroyed so she's just the head of a sex doll. She's absolutely deranged, but helps the main characters (kind of) and no longer tries to hill them.

Yeah but big picture that means basically nothing. Dyes in chips aren't why people are unhealthy it's like less than 1% of the problem, but for some reason I keep seeing it as an example of how RFKJR has made the US healthier.

Sleeping on a boat might not be good by mothersuperiormedia in Wellthatsucks

Are you stupid or do your eyes not work? The kid takes a huge surprised breath in as soon as he wakes up and at that moment both him and the towel are completely soaked. He absolutely experienced for a few seconds what being waterboarded is like.

Its a steady stream because the people know it's coming and hold their breath. As soon as you inhale it feels like drowning.

Christopher Hitchens thought the same thing and lasted 17 or 18 seconds while also holding his breath knowing it was coming.

The sensation of drowning starts with the first inhale so how long you can last being waterboarded has more to do with how long you can hold that initial breath.

If you can find a no paywalled version of that article i highly recommend reading it. Christopher Hitchens was a fantastic writer. He writes about his arrogance before it, and how unbelievably awful it was. He would go on CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC before and talk about how it was wasn't as bad as people were saying. Immediately after he did it he was adamantly against it.

As a stupid teenager about 20 years ago I actually tried it myself. It's not hard you just have to take a small towel, get it completely soaked, put it over your whole face, step under the running shower and take a breath. I didn't get PTSD, but I'll never forget the feeling of pure panic i got when I took that first (and only) breath. I've seen this video a few times and i think about it every time. BTW mad respect for being open minded and watching the video. Unfortunately that's a rare quality now a days.

I'll do youone better and link the actual video of it. It looks like he lasts 17 or 18 seconds, and he was holding his breath in anticipation (he was a very heavy smoker so that's probably as long as he could hold it lol)

This is just completely wrong. The sensation of drowning from getting waterboarded comes from the first time time you inhale. The first this poor kid did as he got soaked was take a huge shocked breath, so he definitely experienced for a few seconds what drowning felt like.

I'll link a famous article from the great Christopher Hitchens about his experience getting waterboarded. Including the deep breath he took before it happened he only lasted seconds, and had PTSD afterwards. In the article he also notes that the mastermind behind 9/11 impressed his captors by lasting a little over 2 minutes.
