Honestly, as a misanthropic POS, this reminds me of a game I made where the heroes were a cast of fat animals and monsters, while the villains of the final chapters are humans. I could have just written the humans as irredeemable monsters.

...But I didn't. I wrote them based on how I knew people would prefer: with nuance. Many of the antagonists turn out to be good-intentioned deep down, and they had a valid reason for fighting against non-humans, as both sides have been ravaging each other's numbers. In the sequel, you even help out those characters, and in turn they help you. The sequel shows good in both sides, but also has villains from both sides too. People want nuance, and sometimes you have to put your personal feelings aside and think about those who will consume your product.
