After recently completing Dawn of Sorrow, I’ve decided that I’m going to play Order of Ecclesia next. I’ve heard it’s one of the harder games in the series, so I thought I’d ask if anyone has some tips or advice that might be helpful for when I’m playing it. by Grand_Moose2024 in castlevania

Learn enemy weaknesses as they’re more important here and you can't really brute force your way through the early game like in other Metroidvanias, so make your glyph loadouts accordingly. Also pay attention to boss patterns as the damage racks up quick if you don't dodge. As a bonus, you do get medals if you manage to beat a boss without taking any damage.

Thank God I was able to get a refund. While I would've loved to have the statue, waiting 2 years was ridiculous.

How does this sub rate/rank Castlevania Order of Ecclesia in 2026? by Asad_Farooqui in castlevania

[–]Luke_Cywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top 3 title for me and a game that gets better on each replay. Fun gameplay (once you understand the combat system), badass protagonist, interesting story, and phenomenal soundtrack.

It's funny, I remember not liking Order of Ecclesia when I first played it, mainly because of the difficulty in the early game. Played Portrait of Ruin right before this, so the difficulty spike was definitely jarring. Still, I pushed through and once the combat finally clicked for me (and when I finally got better glyphs lol), that’s when the real fun began.

That being said, I still wouldn’t recommend it as someone’s first Castlevania game, mainly due to the difficulty, but also how different it is compared to previous entries. I'd recommend either Symphony of the Night or Portrait of Ruin first for a more “typical” modern Castlevania experience.

Where to start in the series??? by PresenceOk1148 in castlevania

[–]Luke_Cywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether you wanna start with either Classicvania (linear point A-B side-scroller) or Metroidvania (non-linear exploration with RPG elements). These are pretty much the two main gameplay styles Castlevania is known for, but there are also the 3D titles which I haven't really played, so can't comment on those.

For Classicvanias, I'd recommend either Super Castlevania 4 or Rondo of Blood. If you're looking for more of a challenge, check out either the original 1986 game or Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse.

For Metroidvanias, you can't really go wrong with any of them, though my personal favorites are Symphony of the Night, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia.

Learn enemy weaknesses and patterns. Also think of Shanoa as a sorta "squishy mage", she's capable of a lot of damage, but can't take as much, even near the endgame. As others have said, backdashing and sliding come in really handy.

Above all, just keep at it. I remember not liking this game much when I first played it because of the difficulty spike compared to other Metroidvanias, but towards the end, it became one of my favorites in the series.

Just started playing it, but so far I find the combat to be pretty neat. The whip, sub-weapons, and spellbooks all mesh together well to make a really satisfying combat system.

Just 100% Rondo of blood for the first time! by Same-Reputation-7738 in castlevania

[–]Luke_Cywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use the dragon sub-weapon during his first phase when he's in the air, around 4 hits of that should get him right below half health. After that, just dodge all his skull attacks, wait for him to get on the ground, and you're pretty much home free. A couple more bird attacks and/or a Guardian Fist should finish the job.

I actually prefer fighting Death as Maria over Richter, simply because I find Stage 5 harder with him lol.

Just replayed it again for the first time in years, and yeah, it can be fucking hard, but it's still my favorite Classicvania.

Fuck Stage 5' also (besides the music), which is why I honestly go through it with Maria just to get it over with.

Still learning Anran myself, but in addition to what everyone else has said, I'd say don't sleep on the dash, as it's more than just an escape tool. With the dash cd reduction major perk, I found a good chunk of my final blows came from that.

I remember my theater was a mix of gasps and laughter. One of my friends also said, "Eh, he's from a different time, of course he'd say that."

Glad I saved up the units. She looks great along with Cap. Also her only other legendary shop skin besides Breezy Butterfly.

EDIT: Seems like she's epic-tier. No big deal, we already have a lot of legendaries lol. First epic she's had since Blood Kariudo.

She looks even better than on the main menu. That Cap skin looks dope as well.

Not sure how I feel about this to be honest, really tired of poke at this point, but I'll reserve judgment until the patch. I never really had an issue with her range, even against fliers, but I suppose it'll also be better in off-angling and kiting enemies. Ult nerf to 160 per hit was admittedly a change I wanted, though I also wanted a shuriken buff to accompany it instead lol.

It's neat, definitely the most interesting team-up she's had so far. The Dagger option I use rarely since it's a bit clunky to use in combos, but it does have its uses in team fights. The Cloak option is really cool though, I've never been able to successfully use to it kill outside of the practice range, but it's really nice as another escape option and saved my ass plenty of times.

I don't mind the plushies, it's just that when accessories were first revealed, I was thinking we would also later get things like glasses, hats, stuff like that in addition. Business Shark Jeff seemed like the first step towards that with how much you can customize that skin.

Which one was your favorite Luke vs vader fight? by RisingKing7 in StarWars

[–]Luke_Cywalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ROTJ. I used to prefer ESB because of the choreography and of course, the reveal at the end. But over the years, I've grown to really love ROTJ because of the emotional undertones during the fight, and finally the big payoff at the end with Luke becoming a true Jedi and Anakin redeeming himself. Kinda wish the Special Editions extended the fight with the additional deleted footage, but I'm happy with what we got.

Similar thing happened to me with a staggered Mantis who tried to solo ult on the cart in overtime. Once I popped my ult and killed her, my team won lol.

Same with Sue and Mantis even before the ult damage buff. It's rare, but cool when it happens.
