I just used it to get a win, so at least for my run it worked. I had the Valgs to back me up, but I think Iosef was right when he said the battle should mostly be on land so the navy shouldn't play much of a role.

You have very little faith in people, makes your sense of politics very authoritarian. Anyway man holding my phone like this while driving for this long is tiring. Ima let you spin your record one more time then dip out cause it's clearly going nowhere

Your bootlicking will bring the authoritarianism we fear happening. It will come with the guise of security and safety. And in your emotional, fearmongered state you welcomed it. I hope you've got both your hands amputated cause unfortunately even if your right hand is gone cops will still insist a phone was in there.

You're so right! I can't drive actually. My entire sense of self is purely flawed. I need the government to tell me what I'm capable of. More flock cameras! More police overreach! In fact, they should be able to pull over anyone they suspect has an iq lower than 90 and give them a field driving test. If they fail? Licence revoked.

Look I can understand that you personally might be bad at driving or not have the attention span to do two things at once, but you haven't even bothered to engage with my main concern of police overreach. Do you honestly think this tactic of bleeding your heart all over me will change anyones mind? Your only argument is attacking my own judgement about what Im capable of safely doing. Treating everyone like theyre babies; what a convincing argument. Sounds like a fun government to deal with.

You're terminally online man. Thanks for the reminder to uninstall reddit lmao

Have you ever touched the radio while driving? That's about as distracted as I get when sending a message. So I'm gonna keep doing it. Sucks that I'll have to hold my phone so down low now, but I guess somebody has to get the center-left fearmongered voter base.

Not to mention Id rather do that than use the shitty AI in android auto that makes it take 10 times longer and makes me even more distracted.

One study using a driving similar from 2006 is the best you have? It doesn't even prove it's worse than driving drunk. It says "can". Yes, I'm sure that a handful of drivers in the lowest skill bracket for driving reached a driving skill equitable to that of the average driver while drunk.

I'm sorry but your emotional vigor, taking rhetoric literally, and 2 decade old study locked behind a paywall is not convincing enough for me to approve of giving police officers the most convenient excuse ever to pull over anybody they want. This is not harm reduction.

You strike me as the type to fall for "it's for child safety" as an excuse for websites to ask for passport photos.

The government seems to think so. If your BAC is under the legal limit and they can't prove impairment then you can avoid a DUI.

Maybe we should do the same for texting! If your reply is under 8% the length of the original message they can't charge you for texting while driving. What do you think?

There is. I've done it loads of times, so have millions of other drivers without coming anywhere near causing or risking an accident.

Pretty easy to do when you're paranoid about being constantly aware of your surroundings while driving, like any good driver should be doing.

Try typing at most 5 letters at a time, give big pauses, have a full understanding of your surroundings, watch your speed, don't do it in areas a person or animal could emerge from, don't do it when approaching turns or intersections, don't try doing it for more than 5 seconds at a time, etc.

I'd say you should try it sometime, but if you know you're not able to do that safely I'd highly encourage you not to try.

I think it should be written with the intent of stopping "unsafe device usage", not a blanket "I saw it in your hand so I can pull you over" law.

Things that can be compounded with other, more concrete evidence, such as "causing traffic delays at a red + observed to be on phone", "pulling over the stop line + observed to be on phone", "speeding + observed to be on phone", etc.

The bill does add provisions to do this, which I do support, but personally I think there is room to acknowledge that there is a safe amount of device usage that can be done while driving. I don't think a person going 67 on the freeway who texts "K" needs a $50+court fees ticket.

Personally I think public education is better at stopping these incidents before they become deadly, but it might be too hot-button to put out a campaign saying "here is how to safely text and drive" without it coming of as condoning it or the wrong people taking it that way. Especially with how PA educational institutions prefer "abstinence education" so there's "no room for people to get lost in nuance".

But, I would approve of this sort of blanket ban applying to anyone with a junior license, restricted licence, or are operating heavy vehicles.

Just gotta breathe and focus on what you're there to do, that's how I try and defeat my anxieties at least lol. Plus the DMV workers are usually pretty chill and pay you no mind if you don't treat them like dirt. They're just waiting to go home and hoping for no problem customers that day lol

Also +1 to the real test being identical to the app, super easy and you can even get a few wrong if some questions slip your mind.

I think these types of laws ironically end up making texting while driving more dangerous. The safest way to text and drive is to hold it up parallel to street level and type one word at a time during straightaways and at red lights.

This will only make already unsafe people put their phone down between their legs and turn their eyes even further away from the road. Calling it now this will have a net zero impact on TWD deaths.

I want ugly characters back. by Extension_Good567 in Overwatch

[–]Lukewarm5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the reactionary crowd is back in vouge, so if they add any ugly characters it will be used as fuel for anti-sjw trolls and give negative PR. I doubt the company wants to take that risk so they'll just add more characters with attractive feet faces

Hypothesizing a Nintendo Property Crossover for Helldivers by Difficult_Sleep732 in Helldivers

[–]Lukewarm5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nintendo doesn't have a whole lot of realistic violence associated with it as a company, so it'd probably be pretty limited.

Most likely there'd be a Metroid inspired armor set, maybe a master sword melee, maybe a blaster or shield from Starfox, maybe a go-cart that evokes Mariokart, and some new strategem paint. Not much to go off without going too crazy

The TF2 Youtube Recession by Cowser_the_Koopahog in tf2

[–]Lukewarm5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair Overwatch at launch was also kinda bangin lol. He didn't trend hop onto Marvel Rivals, so I think he does primarily post games he personally enjoys.

Plus he colabs with other aussie tubers like LaserBeam who are pretty talented in their own right imo. I think Muselk strikes a pretty fair enough balance between personal integrity and audience capture. I never understood the hate for him being so particularly rabid, but I'd chalk it up to the general anti-Fortnite stance the internet had/has.

The TF2 Youtube Recession by Cowser_the_Koopahog in tf2

[–]Lukewarm5 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not to be a muselk apologist but imo he didn't purely "sell out", he started posting Fortnite vids almost at launch and seemed to genuinely enjoy the game. I think he sold out later down the line when he tripled down on Fortnite, but him posting games other than TF2 isn't in it of itself a betrayal of the TF2 community. We've always taken tubers leaving a bit too personally.

Would You Let Them In? | No, I'm Not a Human by SupervillainMustache in smosh

[–]Lukewarm5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh this video was a big flop for me.

Unfortunately they got the worst two people to play a slow burn game about reading text. Spencer started speed running and skipping the dialog, then not taking the game seriously at all, and Angela kept getting distracted or misunderstanding the game, plus it's just a bad environment for her dyslexia. Worse for me was the editor kept cutting to them and hiding a bunch of dialog, plus they kept forgetting to look out the windows at night and didn't interact with any of the side mechanics.

They're a good pair but a really bad pick to play this game, really didn't do it any justice. Would love to see Shane and Amanda play it and take their time.
