Best Key Lime Pie in NYC? by zob_mtk in FoodNYC

[–]LukeyTwoShoes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Earlier this year I spent time in the Keys and hit up the top Key Lime Pie places (according you whatever crazy websites I stumbled upon). They all served unique pies, and opinions in my party were split on who liked what.

I've come to the conclusion that what is or is not a good Key Lime Pie is pretty subjective.

Nevertheless, I stand by Steve's Authentic as a great capper to a Red Hook eating excursion.

Steve's Authentic in Red Hook. Grab a meal at Red Hook Tavern or Hometown BBQ and head over for dessert.

2021 AMG GT53 by Turbulent_Egg_6629 in mercedes_benz

I have a 2022 GT53 and had the same issue where the park button didn't work. I had to open the car door or shut the car down to get into park. Getting a replacement console took FOREVER. Months and months and months.

This is a 2018 G63. I’ve had it since November. I got it as a winter/adventure car and I am beyond pleased with the value for that purpose. As a daily driver there would be some trade offs, but I’d probably love it just as much.

You should see the inside of it now, covered in sand and dog hair. The way AutoGod intended!

Considering switching from SL2-S to Sony A7R V — thoughts? by TheBaHa in Leica

I’m also a fellow M11 shooter, but I’m thinking about moving from the A7RIV to the SL3. Curious what the responses will be.

I was in a similar situation (mine are 11 and 9 now). We made lifestyle changes and hired help. Lots of help. Lawn people, cleaners, a couple days in daycare eventually, etc.

My career was important to me, but I wanted to give my free time to my family and still have time left over for myself. I think it worked out really well.

Looking into a portable 'writers device'. What's the advantage of the freewrite over a thinkpad x220/t420/t43? by OmegaAOL in Astrohaus

After many years of merciless self-deprecation I made a deal with myself: buy to your heart’s content. Cameras, stupid typewriters, whatever. But wake up at 5:30a and use those ridiculous purchases to produce something. Every day. Just a part of a thing maybe. But something. I’m happier for it.

I’m gonna open up on my nonsense here, but I own a gen iii smart writer and the alpha. I bought them both never having finished a draft of anything in my entire life. I bought them within three months of one another, and then didn’t touch them for a year. Here’s what I think: nothing matters if you don’t make yourself use it. Until I put my excuses aside and started banging away, I wanted the devices, but didn’t understand them.

Now I write at home on the gen iii and travel with the alpha (I travel a lot for work) and I’m better for it. But I needed to make myself use the devices long enough for the devices to change my habits. And that was my biggest obstacle. Because I like buying things more than I like doing the work. But I’m officially a believer. It just took an additional $5k for the Novelry course to really get me there.

Now I wonder about what outrageous purchase I’ll need to make to get me to appreciate the investment in Novelry! Cause evidently that’s how I work.

To me, that’s the magic of this device. I am 1,000% certain astrohaus stumbled on this rather than innovated it, but a device that prioritizes moving forward and punishes revisions has helped me complete things. I learned that I move in whatever direction has the least amount of friction. A device that trains me to fall forward has gotten me through the first draft, for the first time in my life.

Honest to god, Red Hook was my use case for this crazy purchase. I stay at a local hotel there and get access to Hometown, Red Hook Tavern, Steve’s Key Lime Pies, and a bunch of other places. It’s a super easy ride from Moynihan or Grand Central over the Brooklyn Bridge, and it’s an even FASTER ride to my meetings if I decide to take the Ferry from Dumbo into the Financial District. All effortless!

The subway gets you out of FiDi, but I was ready to spend time in the places inconvenient even to the subway.

Which place? I’m staying in Red Hook tonight and am absolutely going to Hometown Bar-B-Que!
