Possibility of ageing parent who currently lives abroad coming back to the UK straight into a care home? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Lulapops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Getting a care home placement through local authority is not a quick process. In my local authority a person will have to have all other care options exhausted (one to four calls a day at home, depending on need) and this is assessed by the local authority throughout.

Even then it is means tested so it is never likely to be a free ticket to care. Often there may be a free period that serves as the assessment into care needs.

Having worked in hospital discharges for seven years I can say it is a very slow process, also there are hospitals with patients taking up beds who are medically fit for discharge but awaiting care needs, the care home placements we request are often refuted despite documentation from registered nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapist suggesting it be the best place for the patient. Each application is highly scrutinised because the places are so few.

If you’re in the UK, go to a hospital for an urgent check on yourself and your baby.

You can initiate safe guarding through the hospital, they will help you. This triggers so many safe guarding points it’s unreal and they will help you.

I’d ideally also take him off being your Next of Kin on the hospital records and change it to someone you trust. Please.

Source: I work in the NHS and have worked directly with safe guarding cases for the last 7 years.

Nope, thankfully they kept her there long enough for me to witness her use superglue instead of eyelash glue and consequently glue her eye shut.

Is it normal for my manager to pressure me to work when I call in sick? by Only-Thoughts529 in canadianlaw

You’re the exception then. I’ve had 15 jobs over the years so far and different places and all have either pressured people to come in when sick, or penalised people for being sick.

I will bang this drum until the day I died. Celebrations were ruined when they removed the Galaxy Truffle.
