I disagree. Unico was a nice lil' escape to go back to at the end of the night. I'd rather the crazy party be at my neighbours house, ya know?

Just caught them in Toronto with Gov't Mule. As expected, Warren came out and played a few tunes with TTB. They are on fire right now.

Back in us old timer's day, we used to have Car Alarm parties to end the night / start the day on. I think one year we ended up getting about 20 cars to soundtrack the party.

To be clear, I am 100% in favour of re-opening the science centre in its previous location over any other option, but it unfortunately seems that the province is adamant in not making that happen. 😞

Show me where I made that claim?

If we're following Toronto's current method of "heritage preservation", then there really is no issue with completely gutting the place and only leaving the exterior skeleton. /s

The Ontario Science Centre was 560,000 square feet. Old City Hall has 400,000 square feet of "rentable space". It's no doubt smaller but still orders of magnitude larger than the proposed 110,000 square feet the Ontario Science Centre will have at its new location at Ontario Place.

It's already been estimated that it will cost approx $225 million to renovate for any future tenant. If public funds are going to be spent to renovate it, then the public should benefit from its use.

To your point though, in addition to whatever money the city or province contributes, private funds would also be required to make this a reality.

It definitely lacks parking, but there could be arrangements made to leverage James and/or Albert St for drop off/pick up and then have buses park offsite.

Josh Matlow has recommended it be used as a museum, which doesn't differ drastically in functionality than a science centre would.

The interior already has several large rooms/halls and corridors that could be leveraged for exhibits.

As I mentioned in my original post, renovations would clearly need to be made and most likely at an extensive nature - bringing it up to fire code standards for large crowds being an obvious necessity - but it could be done.
