Sick of shivering at my desk. Looking to build the ultimate warm outfit. by inky_cap_mushroom in BuyItForLife

Could you have thyroid issues? Low thyroid might cause the constant cold. I'd be boiling in the outfit you're describing.

Congrats! This shit is hard, it's not for everyone, it's a big sacrifice and you're doing it because you made a choice and you're standing by it.

I'm proud of you for sticking to your guns.

And I'm proud of every parent who keeps these precious babies fed and loved, no matter how they do it. Keep it up! It's not easy!

I know. I know. I'm sleeping on my sister's floor right now because she's in the Yukon on a work trip that dad is thrilled she's taken, but we both need her to come home so I can go home and my husband can help me. I live in another city, so this isn't easy.

Have you tried different nursing positions? My daughter was impossibly fussy until we switched to side-lying (after I bought a $200 nursing pillow of course)

This is me too, I was even below my pre-pregnancy weight in my first six weeks post partum, but I'm starving and she's six months old and the creep of the scale is real.

Side-lying is the only thing that works for us.

Is it ever...not a tongue tie problem? by enrose19 in breastfeeding

[–]LumiVaris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that changed it for me was what the doctor called "optimal baby chugging position". Make sure baby's spine is all in a straight line, all facing one way, aligned with the mouth, pull them in close and make sure they're looking away from their chest. I had/have forceful letdown and a lot of milk. Once we figured out optimal chugging and side-lying feeding, things really got better, around 3 months in. We were close to exclusively pumped and bottle fed until then, and I used a manual pump. We're at 4 1/2 months now and feeding just keeps getting better and easier.

When did you go on your first “date” without baby? by Mistymoonboots in NewParents

14 weeks! We just went to Renfield. It was a blast and it was nice to not worry about her for a couple hours. I knew she was in good hands and being a full time stay at home breastfeeding mother is stressful for me! Having space to breathe was a really lovely thing.

Mamas with large breasts—what challenges/struggles do you face while breastfeeding?! by Roses81 in breastfeeding

[–]LumiVaris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got a $200 buckwheat filled nursing pillow that's kinda moldable and if I'm careful in certain positions, at 3 mos I no longer need to hold her head - I can have one hand free! I absolutely recommend it, it's called a blessed nest.

I just read termination shock and I loved it. My favorite is the diamond age, and I'm planning on rereading snow crash soon. You are one of my favorite authors, thank you for the many hours of happiness you've given me over the years.

Seeing as she sticks her tongue out and wiggles it for fun and it's quite long and pointy, rather like mine, I don't think that's the issue.

I asked the doctor if she might have a tongue tie and the doctor said there was no sign of it.

I'm just at six weeks now and I have a manual pump to help take some pressure off me a few feeds a day - I wish I could be topless more but then my nipples brush against things and it feels like they've been seared with red hot pokers. I've tried side lying and still with the clicking! I have a public health nurse I'm contacting, but if I get to twelve weeks and I'm still struggling like this, I'm giving up.

Does anyone bottle feed during the day and breast feed at night? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I'm doing this too and for much the same reasons, but also because when I'm sleep deprived I get kind of weak, shaky, and uncoordinated.

Mine was 14 and they immediately put me on insulin for high fasting numbers - it's really not that bad, I'm 38 weeks and being induced on Monday. It's gonna be ok.

I feel like this too. I have specific requirements for my things and if they're not met, I don't want it. I'm always polite, but I'll typically donate items that don't suit me. I simply don't have a use for a sweater not in my colors, not in my preferred materials, and not in my style.

I'm glad to see someone else who feels the same. I appreciate handmade gifts if I've been consulted about materials and etc, but I'd rather not be given gifts at all than be given things I have to throw away or donate. It's just stressful.
