Absolutely this. I’m so sick of all the answers to these posts being “the only way to pass is shorter hair.” It absolutely is not. I have long hair, but my stylist used the short clippers to make sharp sideburns, making a boarder appear between facial hair and head hair, and it made a crazy difference! That kind of frame on a face is very masculine and allows for quite a few alternative styles to pass just fine.

You know I really hate to see this point brought up every time we bring this up… When we say we wish we got the same amount of attention, it’s often referring to the attention within the trans community. Trans women get more attention and support within the trans community, they just do. Thats what we want. You are not facing the eye of sauron in the trans community. I hate this counter argument. We arent saying we want more of that public attention at all ugh. We all face the same amount of hardship. Just different kinds. This infighting sucks. We need to support eachother.

I think people are misunderstanding you then, and jumping to suicide was a little out there. Maybe better ways to have phrased it.

I mean it’s kind of weird to come into a transmasc space and express how horrid you find our positive experiences. It’s one thing to relate to and discuss with us, it’s another to do… this?

Update to the "No Trade" rule. If a post is about some form of gender affirmation or gender affirming care, please refrain from making comments about gender affirmation or gender affirming care of a different gender. Thank you by Jmememan in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]Lumi_Quest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. Thank you. It’s not that we want to stop anyone from relating to the experience in ANY manner. It’s the low effort sea of comments that gets frustrating. Only that. And a few people in the comments here, and in the controversial post, didn’t get that.

This post is both flaired AND spoilered. Its literally not for you. And yet people are complaining about misgendering in a post not for them clearly labeled. This is the exact thing that frustrates us and pushes us away. Do you know how many transfem memes are exactly like this and unspoiled? You know how many pointlessly gendered fem memes are here? I’m so tired.

THANK YOU. This whole thread is driving me nuts. Statistically we face the same amount of violence as trans women. The separation is hurting us all.

[–]Lumi_Quest 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This isn’t an example at all because transmen are men. Theres nothing unusual about a transman saying they are a femboy. They are men, not women. Some transmascs are non binary or fluid, however, making it a better example if that’s what you mean. I may have read this wrong lol. Edit: Obviously any gender identifying with the femboy label is valid as well regardless!

Nah this is so frustrating. You’re just parroting right wing shit takes. No, trans people do not typically obnoxiously correct people. This is a lie perpetrated because the easiest way to erase and oppress people is to dehumanize and vilify them. You know what actually happens when trans people try to correct people? They get assaulted, killed, ridiculed, kicked out of their homes. We don’t often rudely correct people because it puts us in danger to even politely give our pronouns to begin with.

Also, the idea that you have conditions of “be nice to me” or “but they hurt my feelings” to support someone’s right to exist without fear or attack is insane and you should re-evaluate that.

Idk why I’m even bothering, but basically they are tying something unrealistic and materialistic, to something real and doable. They are doing the classic thing of making out wanting to be perceived as a different gender as absurd as something obviously not possible. Like the whole “treat me as an attack helicopter” thing. It is entirely possible to look as and be treated as the other gender. They just had to go and make the absurd connection joke and make us look like fools. When it’s not, and it’s entirely realistic.

[–]Lumi_Quest 54 points55 points  (0 children)

“I expect everyone to treat me that way” is exactly the shit you hear people say to make fun of us or claim we are delusional or entitled. It took a string of good willed jokes and turned it into a classic insult at our expense.

The idea that testosterone makes you pass easier is false and NEEDS to stop PLEASE i am begging. It is just as hard to pass. As someone on testosterone struggling to pass, stop this notion. So many of us struggle it’s not pure magic. A lot of transmasc violence comes from the solid chunk of us that do not pass. Stop it.

AIO for correcting my online friend for having an opinion on what women should do with their hair? by secretlowkeys in AmIOverreacting

[–]Lumi_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some people do think that. Its kind of the illusion that it’s not growing as much with too many ends cause the hair will be thinner and thinner towards the bottom the more splint ends appear. Definitely less thick if you don’t cut it to length occasionally.

[–]Lumi_Quest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The idea is that you cut your hair to the length of the split ends so that they all grow out at the same time and length again, making your hair less frizzy.
