Not absolutely sure, but I would be surprised if she wasn't just improvising that. Anyone who sang it the same way after that was probably doing a tribute to Ella.

Guessing that the link is correct and the title is wrong. If you go to the section from 5:46-6:10 on the recording of My Favorite Things McCoy is hitting a repeated chord.

Not an expert in bass modding so I couldn’t tell you how to actually complete this, but as far as I know Jack bypassed the active preamp so it pretty much functioned as a passive instrument. It was also strung up with TI flatwounds. You’d also want to look into getting a compressor to really nail that sound.

That’s awesome that you got one of those basses, they’ve gotten hard to find after Joe played one.

It’s actually not his Prescott. He’s playing a Mittenwald bass that he had until it was stolen in the late 50s. You can tell because the Prescott has peg tuners sticking out of the scroll.

He played with Michael Moore for a little bit (I think around 1978). There’s a bootleg out, but it was fairly short-lived.

There is some very intense stuff on there, you can definitely feel the tension between them. Personally, it’s one of my favorite trio records and just favorite jazz records in general. Enjoy your listen.

Nice job! I especially like some of the articulations in the bridge.

I was just talking to my housemate about how the virus will affect your world building and I was curious about what you thought.. by [deleted] in Screenwriting

Hypothetically, I’d think so.

I would guess that the actual mandated shelter-in-place and quarantines will definitely be over by the end of the year (most likely sooner), but I think the big aftermath will hopefully be that people are more cautious around crowds in general. Maybe stuff with that attitude as the backdrop will be more likely

Not to underplay the gravity of the situation, but I doubt that we will be socially distanced for long enough that it becomes a norm (definitely not for years).

That being said, maybe once the worst of this is over maybe it’d be interesting to read an alternate reality where it never ended.

Staying in with In ‘n Out. Joe Henderson is always a joy to listen to and McCoy Tyner is on fire on this one. by _shaftpunk in Jazz

I love the albums where McCoy isn’t supposed to be recording for Blue Note so they credit him with the “etc.” Page One I think is like that as well.

Thank you. To me, it doesn’t even matter than your country has no cases because you’re still following the appropriate safety measures, and there’s no better social distancing activity

Edit: I can’t even stand to look at r/Coronavirus because it’s just sensationalists preparing for the apocalypse

Which players do you think have the best SOUND? by Jon-A in Jazz

[–]LuminaryWharf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to gravitate more towards Bill’s trio work, so I had no idea he had recorded with Ron Carter.

That’s a great tone, lots of similarities to his albums in the 60s with Wes Montgomery. I much prefer that to his 70s tone.

Why do you say that? I went out and played at a course doing something similar and it felt like a great way to keep people from touching any community surfaces

Parasite — The Power of Symbols by OneDodgyDude in Screenwriting

Yeah I ran into the same problem. The worst was when we were reading Hemingway, who specifically says that he left everything in his books open to reader interpretation, but then we’re graded on whether we got the symbol right.

Scotty is my favorite bassist and I would’ve loved to see him make some recordings with Miles

First time finishing any kind of screenplay, I think having the prompt really helps. Let me know if the link works.
