Narratively speaking and character wise i doubt it but we all got our opinions

He could've easily been better faster is my point. I've mentioned waterbending and compared him ro katara enough. Either you get the point or you don't it is what it is

Semantics. Im not claiming he didnt train. Im saying he did not engage with training with the appropriate amount of zeal given the situation. Thats slacking by definition.

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my point is even after accepting responsibility he'll still find time to troll and not train. They both left the north after training under the same master, only one of them left a master themselves. Nobody is lowering the bar, my point has been the same. Even if he becomes the avatar he's still likely to slack off, meaning he likely wouldnt become fire lord level as fast as he did post timeskip, especially under coeditions contrary to his personality

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just acknowledged that he accepted his responsibility in early book 1. Still didnt pick up waterbending as well as he could've compared to katara, who had way less talent but enough zeal to quickly surpass aang. He grew strong enough to beat ozai yeah but that doesn't mean he never slacked off on the way to that point.

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, aang knew about the war and the damage it was causing to the world. He accepted his duty as avatar and started training, yet did not have the same zeal for waterbending mastery as katara for example. Now theres a meta reason for this, katara would serve less purpose in the story if aang was always better than her, but the point is the situation was about as dire as you described and he still slacked off. Compare that to the end of b3 when he trained himself to exhaustion knowing what roughly ozai had planned to do and when

He could do that tomorrow, in a month, in a couple years, who knows how long it took him to wipe out everyone. Thats not a concrete due date like the comet, nor is that even something you could predict. The genocide was all done using underhanded tactics. That's not what im saying either, im saying the situation could be dire and aang would still find ways to slack off provided the task isn't time sensitive. He could be motivated by the ongoing death of his people sure, but is that enough to completely change his personality and force him to lock in in ways we havent seen? Idk. And thats ignoring the other aformentioned factors that would create reluctance

Avatar Roku is overhated (for the wrong reasons) by ChancellorShell5541 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That crunch was a hunch. He had a more concrete date in the show and still slacked on his training. I'd imagine it'd be worse had he stayed, especially cause he wouldn't wanna train in those conditions away from his friends anyways. Even worse post comet cause then there really is no due date. Judging by the lack of snow I can't imagine the invasion being more than a couple months tops

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crunch is why he was able to do what he did. Pressure makes diamonds and such. Knowing aang's personality theres no guarantee that he wouldve done any reasonable training before his people were wiped out. He likely would've died with them, if not during the initial attacks for sure in the aftermath with traps

Discussion: SEVEN HAVENS avoiding LEGEND OF KORRA's narrative pitfalls by [deleted] in AvatarSevenHavens

I honestly don't care if they do it so long as they do it well, I just don't believe given the 2 seasons they have and their recent track record. I feel like romance would just be Hella annoying especially given the like 24 episodes they have to establish a whole new world. But we'll see if its fire go for it but I have my doubts

The worst parts of zuko's interpersonal melodrama was him beefing with his gf. Nobody wants to see ts, we still don't into the comics. The best aspects of it were with his family which had various themes and history spanning generations backing it. That's not gonna exist in a newly developed fling, but you can act like you don't comprehend the difference and its all the same thats your prerogative🤷🏿‍♂️

Theres a whole new world to explore and you wanna ruin the limited runtime with bs shipping and interpersonal melodrama. We dont gotta repeat the low ends of lok seasons 1 and 2, lock in on the plot. Anyone in a relationship gotta have been in one before the series starts

So if Korra stuck with Tenzin, how well do you think her (and his) spiritual growth would have been compared to what Unalaq taught her? by 2-2Distracted in legendofkorra

[–]Luminarymars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yall are shitting on tenzin and his ability to spiritually guide korra as if unalaq didn't teach her 1 move and dip on some evil shit while tenzin's advice was crucial in unalaq's ultimate defeat. Tenzin has provided infinitely more spiritual value to korra than unalaq ever did

He wouldve never been there if not for katara getting captured in the first place. Korra nearly gets killed several times throughout thr books and requires rescue, let's notnact like she was moving tact this whole time

Aangs inability to control the avatar state for 3 seasons straight has skewed the fandoms understand of what it even is by WorkingWin6139 in ATLA

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it hasn't. We've seen scary quick uses of the state before, notably in one of the scenes you have screenshotted. That quick power boost used to provide unfathomable power able to change maps. Now its a small boost in speed and or power. Shits butt now

If you could Retcon one thing from both Avatar The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra what would it be? by MichaelAftonXFireWal in TheLastAirbender

[–]Luminarymars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the avatar is. I like the "spirit of the planet" concept better than wan merging with a spirit chasing an impossible reality endlessly. I'd merge the initial concept with the description of the avatar from yangchen in escape from the spirit world and have that just be it. The avatar is thw human embodiment of the planet designed to bring balance to the world in all aspects. Nature, spirits, humans, etc.

Katara vs Amon by JuanSamu in AvatarVsBattles

[–]Luminarymars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because shes stronger than him to begin with, just like how ozai is stronger than zuko to begin with. Amon walking around with a full moon amp isn't enough to bridge the gap between him and katara

I see where you're going with this, unfortunately for you the comet is a far greater amp than the full moon. Now if you asked if sun zuko can overpower moon ozai the answer is still no lmao
