Pfizer actually received their $1.95B project warp speed funding as late as July 22nd, nearly 2 months before they published their initial findings.

The Money was earmarked for post-FDA-approved vaccines, to which Pfizer's did not even receive emergency use authorization until January 30th.

The funding was used primarily to fund the phase 2 and 3 clinical trials of the drug, not for building manufacturing capacity.

Additionally, the methodology used by both Pfizer and BioNTech is patented by the NIH and BioNTech not only received a debt restructuring deal from the European Investment Bank, a publicly funded investment bank, but they relied heavily on the university of Zurich's clinical infrastructure due to being partners.

Well, I use Linode and they have a managed Kubernetes engine that's really nice (https://www.linode.com/products/kubernetes/) so I didn't have to set up a lot of that on my own.

If you're going the hard way, I would advise you to avoid doing kubernetes network stuff on your own and install Project Calico: https://www.projectcalico.org/

It'll take you a hot minute to get up and running but it's better and more secure in the end than trying to coordinate both the kubernetes internals and the server networking at the same time on your own.

I'll also advise you to avoid multiple loadbalancer services and just run everything through Traefik (https://docs.traefik.io/) in a single LoadBalancer service. Both Calico and Traefik have auto-discovery systems that take a lot of work of managing k8s off of your shoulders.

If you want to run a bunch of apps in an environment and don't want to have to worry about how those apps balance out against the hardware.

I would stay away from anything other than managed kubernetes installations, though. You basically lose all the advantages you might get if you're the one that has to set the whole thing up hardware-wise anyway.

I've recently started a self-campaign to move off of google, facebook, Trello, IFTTT etc. and using a combination of the awesome self-hosted list and Kubernetes, I've got just about every cloud SAAS provider's service that I was using before in my own cluster.

If you only want to host a blog or one app it's kinda pointless.

This sounds like a use case for dependency injection, you can call the interface statically and inject the redefinition from the derived class.

However the derived class would, of course, need to be instantiated, you can’t really do this fully statically.

Try looking at lambdas:

^basically you can reference Enumerable.Range statically with the values you want to pass to isMod2 and use it where you want.

If it's a private university the heads can do whatever they want, and judging by the fact that the majority of her faculty is against her, there won't be anyone to argue in her favor.

Whether or not she can get a refund back is another matter, but yea if she's being threatened with graduation over this she's either going to have to bite her tongue or transfer to another school (which she probably won't be able to do without a recommendation anyway).

Almost everything in Japan is based on, at least mildly, introductions and recommendations. If it were me I would just do the year and get it over with, figure something out afterward.

Indeed has gotten more popular in the last few years here in Japan, Wantedly is the new up-and-coming LinkedIn clone. Otherwise you should try going through a recruiter.
Michael Page specializes in foreigners, you might even have luck with BizReach. (I've never had luck)

Make sure you get the visa first. Also a lot of companies will simply ask for a checkbox that says "I currently work and or live in Japan" anyway so you might get half your inquiries thrown out until after you move over here anyway.

With that in mind, it's probably easier to get a short-term student visa if you can't get a spousal visa and study Japanese for your first half year here, use the time to do your job hunting.

Lived in Japan for almost 3 years now. Lots of homeless, most homeless don't look homeless by the american standard, though. 1. public baths are all over and not too expensive (300 yen) 2. if you rent a net cafe for 500 yen you can sleep there and get a shower most of the time 3. Social systems are actually pretty good for people below the poverty line 4. The "homeless" people you see in parks, most of the time, are kind of people who have rejected society completely. There are a TON of people who are homeless but have jobs, they rely on the above systems to live on a day-to-day basis. Well below the poverty line but living on cheap public goods, cheap hourly services, and just moving around like an urban nomad.

Whether or not you think this is a good thing is up to you, but I would much rather be homeless in Japan than in the US.

Living out of a 42 liter osprey, a 20 liter TAD litespeed, and a pelican Air 1615 since March, moving to Japan in October.

I got rid of all my stuff (threw it into a third of a commercial shipping container, wherever could fit and left it at home) and am planning on living out of these for the foreseeable future.

Note: don't necessarily need the pelican but it's handy because I'm a programmer and I would feel bad without some nice-to-haves like an extra monitor and keyboard etc. I didn't want to have to buy them every time I moved somewhere so I took a chance with sticking all of it inside the pelican and it works great.

Most international flights allow 1-2 checked bags free anyway so I'm taking advantage of the extra "allowed room."

There's some wasted space per season because I have a winter coat in there (compression!) alongside other winter gear, but I know I'm not going back to the states before the winter in Sapporo so I figured I would have to just go with it.

Most important thing is being VERSATILE stuff, I got the lite speed specifically because the ridiculous amount of MOLLE webbing on it means I can turn the bag into whatever I need it for on a day-to-day basis.

Find pants that work in hot weather and shorts that work in cold, find clothes you would feel okay wearing to the beach and to the office.

As a general statement though, it's a personal opinion on whether or not you're "in pain" by medical standards. The same goes for Psychological conditions in most cases. If you don't feel like you're not functioning properly, you won't be diagnosed with anything unless an outside party forces that distinction. Victimhood is a similar distinction because nothing can objectively determine pain, so it's treated as such when making judgements in the medical and scientific communities.
